HDR - a photoset on Flickr

Great stuff, Mr. Zorro!

edit: oh, and those don't count as attempts, you've got the whole thing down cold.

Hm, some of those 'HDR's' don't look real........ or at least not the lighting one would expect to see in real life. To me, some of them look like computer graphics one would find in a computer game.....

That's not saying they are bad, oh no, far from it..... just that they don't look natural (and they are some of the better i've seen).

muz640, nice cycling in the rain photo. How did you take it without putting the camera in danger of getting wet?

I was futzing about town tonight trying out my new camera and lens.

D300 + 55-200VR. For me it's small inconspicuous lens. Although I did get approached in a store not to take photos not that I was taking them. It was sort of a warning lol.

VR will work nice with LiveView and high depth of field stuff. 200mm is enough telephoto to get something across the streets. 55 is just wide enough for me. Overall it's a fun light combo. New possibilities are opening up.

I still need to read half the manual and keep practicing to get used to the controls.

Ah, very nice!
I'm always amazed at just how nice even the inexpensive lenses are from nikon. It's so nice to see them adding VR to a whole slew of lenses, especially those costing less than 400$. If my kit lens had VR, I wouldn't have upgraded nearly as fast.

I think the telephotos are a bit safer in terms of quality. 55-200 has less distortion than the wide angle 18-200VR or 18-55VR and it's resolution wide open is pretty good and even throughout.

I was able to get a decent 200mm 1/6th of a second shot at ISO3200. Granted 70-200VR @ 2.8 ISO800 would've been better than this at 5.6 and 3200 but that lens is not easy to carry around.

The other alternative is just to carry a fast lens for lowlight.

Here are some fireworks in Central Park in New Years. 400D with 35mm 1.4.
