First two are computer innards (Looks like a cpu socket and then RAM slots/caps/heatsink). Second two look like wine glasses, not sure what the red is though, another (full) glass of wine?

You're absolutely right. Thought the first 2 were a little harder to guess, but that's just because I didn't know how that looked before I first saw what you see on the pic lol!
Wineglasses indeed, the red is the colour of the cup of the glass. One was laying down with the opening to the front with another glass standing in front of it.

I bought my camera about half a year ago, and I've been trying to get more solidly into photography. I find it pretty difficult - I'm not exactly an artistic person, but it's certainly fun and rewarding. Some advice would be great if someone can spare it, and criticism too!

All photos shot with a Nikon D40 with the standard kit lens.

Ah, good old Japan. Interesting capture you got there Marados.
I really love the colors of the first picture, they are colors that really give me a warm feeling in my mind.

PS: 800x600 police will be after you

The first one in particular is gorgeous. I'd be tempted to maybe try to recover some of the detail in the shadows though. D-lighting would help you achieve this I think. I assume since you have a Nikon you're shooting NEF?

It's probably one of the deadly sins in photography, isn't it >_>

Nikon D3 NEF vs JPG

Ah good old Ken. He's a laugh eh?

The reasons for shooting in RAW format are more to do with processing latitude as opposed to sharpness. I've never actually heard anyone argue that sharpness is a reason to shoot RAW. RAW allows far more latitude when it comes to exposure as opposed to JPEG. Additionally, RAW also bypasses the cameras built-in processing engine and leaves that for something a little more powerful, such as Photoshop.

Still, do the research, see for yourself.
