At first I didn't know if that's what it was because the glare went outside of the lens area, but it appears they have filters on them.

I'm so lazy. I really should finish my DIY light box. But then again, I wouldn't have got this crazy lighting that I'm fond of.

Thanks Marados! I like to say that I'm just a sucker for color. ^_^
This picture is practically what came out of the camera.

I set my camera to vivid and set my saturation to +1, which for my D50 is as far as I can go. Some of the newer nikons are more saturated by default, and you can crank the saturation up even higher! Scary.

It also helps to get a good even exposure throughout the picture so that the colors do get saturated. Add to that some colorful diffused lighting (well, mostly) and have a colorful subject, and you too should get nice vivid colors.

Playing around with some improvised lighting. The light source was a halogen desk lamp, through a home made diffuser panel. The image is actually two exposures combined, one with with a circular polarizer to tame the reflections from the Altoid tin. The images were combined in PS with a layer mask.

Now that's a guitar my dad would love to own bloodydoorknob! Quite nice.

Learning the Basics, Greyscale:

I always have my reservations about doing greyscale from color pictures, as I don't think it does them much justice. This, though, is one that I'm impartial between the color version (here) and this version.

Ah, you're very welcome.

Oh my goodness, just look at the effect you made on the latest picture! Wow!
