just re-cabled my ath-sq5 headphones for practice. actually changed the sound quite a bit going from those tiny, worthless wires to silver plated copper with cardas solder =)

Very cool looking Cans... never seen these before!  What type of wire did you use and what gauge?

New headphones to trial for my portable rig arrived yesterday - there can be only one!

(actually that's probably not true, entirely possible I will keep both)

Ha, not yet. I have some high frequency hearing loss actually, so a bit of treble emphasis/hot treble isn't particularly a bother for me personally (probably for the good to be honest).

i believe it is 20awg silver plated copper with tefzel coating.

i bought it from this guy a long time ago, when i used to make LODs frequently

my favorite to work with is 22awg though. i just dont have enough for a recable. my next recable i will do right... the plug i used this time is junk, and i did an ugly job, but they sound good so i guess thats what matters. that and i didnt kill them recabling them haha

The venerable HM-801+balanced card+Re-262 (for easy travel), or with the great RS SR-71B amp+Silver Dragon+superb HE-6. Really enjoy the latter combination for more stationary airy enjoyment, but for air travel etc. which I do alot, the former is fine.

I'd like to get a good, worthy of Hm-801, closed headphones that is not bulky and not flashy...just super sound and good comfort but so far I haven't been able to fix on a no-brainer candidate. I listen to jazz (vocals and instrumentals, plus some classical).

So posted a crappy pic of thes a lonnnnnnggggg time ago and thought id revisit!

Snuss boxes, little pouches or balls of awesome nicotine.  Store all my iems in them and preserve the original packaging in the loft, come in different designs and materials, also fits a clip and buds in one and is rigid so you can throw it in a back pack etc without worrying.

Cool! Actually, I'll be getting new cans for my setup. My choices are AKG k271 mkii and AKG K550. Looking food for the 271's though. I've read the highs are better on them compared to the K550's.
