Sounds like a good candidate for Rockbox (if possible). 
It is just a bit smaller and thinner then the clip/clip+, however functionally it is a failure.  It does not resume from pause after power down for example.  I got it because it is cheap and fits in a meelec case with a pair of IEM's.  Right now on Newegg it is only $17.99 for 4GB

oh boo...and i got excited for nothing.  Here i was wanting ur impressions to see if i should sell my shadow for the arrow 4g

My rig, it works nice, and i changed the green LED to a red as you can see.

haha, it just make it shorter and the cable doesnt get in the way like that :) i love my first rig tho.

If you're willing to wait and lurk Best Buy's site for a while they occasionally have them on sale at $50

. I see J&R sometimes discounts them as well though I dont remember the price
