while those look nice...i'd go with SQ before looks.... and those headphones look uncomfortable as crap with no pads.

Added a new IEM to the portable setup today. Sony MDR-EX1000.

So far I think they sound quite good together. The EX1000's treble seems a bit edgy every once in a while, and the mellowness of the X player seems to soften that bite.
 
They take to amping very very well. They really show a large scale up in soundstage and the space conveyed.

Sony X is mellow? That's strange, the A845 has the edgiest treble out of my DAPs (Cowon i9, Sansa Fuze, Samsung R0, iPod Classic). Thought the X was similar since they share the same S-Master amp.

Seems like I might want to test these.

true that, silver on silver :) and in a silver cord and weve got gold,  never heard the 940's  did try the 840 but i dont know the just didnt sound as good, only 20 quid more but i decided to go the 440 with the 840 pads.  Btw anyone know if the 940 has velvet pads and if they do, do they fit the 440?
