Well hey, I could spend $40 and listen to dfkt or listen to you guys and spend $140 for a player with a buggy UI. As a student on a budget, which do you think I'll choose considering I am getting the SM3's which I have read in many reviews don't improve too much with a better source or amp?

No, of course not, that is just delusional. There's no "better" player than the standard available.

(Disclaimer: I exhaustively tested the Hifiman HM801 and the AMP3, regular quality players have nothing to fear from that ridiculous "audiophile" competition.)

The S:Flo2 sounds better than the Clip and the Fuze. That much I know for a fact.

Then why do you still have a rockboxed Fuze, but no longer have an S:Flo2?

Sorry to bring this up again, but I had to put my spin on it :)

Also, as soon as I build my cmoybb amp I will upload my rig.

I know very little to nothing about sound comparisons and DACs or any of that technical crap, but I've owned nothing but Sansa Clips+ for the last year and a half, and have been nothing but happy.  I recently sold off all but my purple 4GB Clip+, but recently picked up a black refurbed 4GB from IceMonkey.com as a back-up.  These are excellent players because they play just about every format, are expandable, capable of being Rockbox'ed (even by an idiot like me), and sound extremely good to my non-expert ears, even with the sorriest of headphones.  Just get a Clip+ and be happy...and don't forget to get a 32GB microSD card, too!

And they have a pretty long battery life (for something so tiny) ~15-20 hours and take up barely any room (I connect my IEMs, wrap up the cord and clip it in the back of the clip) in your bag or pocket.

I love my Clip+ but that doesn't mean it's the end all of DAPs.  Sure it's cheap, convenient, feature packed but it still sounds thin and weak to me in comparison to most other DAPs I've tried.

To my ears the sflo2 is a noticeable sound improvement (soundstage and imaging) over the rockboxed clip+ (I have both and use both equally). However, if you are only going to use IEM's (and we are not talking about UE 18's or JH13/16 here) I would save the money (and the headache of dealing with MP4 Nation) and get the clip+. I find that I use the sflo2 primarily to listen to full size cans, whether I use SRH840's, HF-2's or the D7000's there is absolutely no comparison, the clip+ can't compete with the sflo2 when using full size headphones.

ATH-M50s and Klipsch S4 were all i had time to test them with, of course volume matched. Using headphones with flat sound characteristics is irrelevant IMO.

@ Adub Did u test sflo2 and clip sound quality with something in ear buds size or with large flat sounding headphones.

There are some very expensive batteries, i wonder would it be good thing if sflo2 price rices by 200$ And even more powerful and expensive nanocapacitors (or carbon nanotubes) type batteries.
