At first, I didn't know if I liked them at all.  Then I gave them a thorough listen (and the cushions softened up a little bit)... and now I really like them.  To me, they sound a bit like Grados with the forward mids and Highs, but not as shrill at the top.  They roll off nicely.  The bass is a little light.  So... they sound like a more polite version of my Grado SR-80i (which are modded to be more polite than stock).  So yes, I really like them.  I wish the earpads were a little larger (I guess I have big ears), but after adjusting them a few times in the beginning... they become comfortable.

From my experience and measurements, neither Eterna nor S9 headphone-out benefit much from a Headstage Arrow. I'd suggest investing that pile of cash in better headphones. The RE0 will get some nice oomph though but will sound even better from a clean line-out source.

What player is this?

It's a Chinese MP4 player called a Window (not Windows) G85. It has a Rockchip RK2806 chipset. You'd be surprised the quality sound the Rockchip provides. Has a clean sound to it. Kinda big to carry around though. It's primarily made for video. It has a 4.3" screen.

I made some tips for my marshmallows, since i use them mostly for yard work, or in heavy noise environments this should work out well, the seal is perfect and you can barely feel they are in. Made with 29db reducing memory foam like ear plugs and some small plastic tubing from an empty Bic pen ink cartridge.

Did you rockbox your iPod? I thought the nanos starting from the 2nd generation were encrypted, which was the problem iPod Linux ran into.

Yes it is. That's actually where I got it. I'm a mod at MP4Nation. I'm The Warrior Poet there. The player is pretty nice, but has some bugs. Window is supposedly releasing another firmware for it. We'll see.

Actually Negakinu, I just have them ordered. Haven't arrived yet. I do have the M1's, but they're a different beast. I do love the Hippo VB's.
