Looks very 1970's. Not in a god way either. You'd hope its a good eBook reader, thats its sole purpose. I never had a problem eBooks on PDA tbh, in the age of convergence having a seperate device for ebooks seems a backward step to me. The reviews I've seen haven't really impressed me. But since this is HeadFi How is it as a Music Player?

GREAT idea to load up on the Kindle. I will give that a try.

Hmm, that was an eye opener. Extremely thorough review, but the guy does come across as very anti-Sony-Ericsson. Just a though.

Eldar is very even-handed. He lauds good products and pans bad ones. He gave very good reviews of older Nokia handsets but appropriately lambasted the N97, for example.

Also, that Lego dock is awesome. Would be a little more awesome if the dock had another cable for line-out, but that's just picking nits.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

. I actually love the look and functionality of it. The first gen aint no slick apple device but the "retro and rugged" look of it has grown on me. And I bought this for the love of reading - not for looks. A well thought out device with some weaknesses that don't necessarily outweigh the benefit. It isn't really fair to judge it if you haven't actually used it. I am a serious book reader - and even though I have kindle and stanza on the ipod touch, it's too much of a strain to read for hours seriously on that tiny and bright screen. Having all these books at my fingertips wherever I go has been really really nice and free classics from project gutenberg and amazon have finally given me the chance to expand knowledge of some of the world's most beloved books.

The music player is actually very surprising IMHO. I was expecting it to sound tinny and anemic but actually it's quite beefy haha. Good bass but that could be my headphones. And from what I have found the player is very transparent because I can hear imperfections all over my horrible recordings. If you go to the player expecting little, you will find yourself receiving a lot.

Pangaea - actually I have music loaded on a SD card installed in the device . I have not tried streaming music yet - haha would have to give that a test.

I was using my old Mini a few weeks ago with my SR80s, the headphone out sounds better then with my 5.0 Video. I need to get a line out cable to see if it fixes the low quality on that iPod. I think the headphone jack is slightly broken.

The FiiO E5 is absolutely worth it, my Stone + E5 + CX 380 Sport II/PMX 200 portable rig sounds twice as good with it

I think this pic is in the earlier thread but I'll post it again. I still use it almost exactly as it is in this setup. Very good sound and very tiny!
