How do these compare to hd598?

In my opinion the X2's way superior in almost every aspect. The HD598 holds up well when it comes to soundstage width and its midrange is more forward but apart from that it does not offer much over the X2's for me. The X2 has better dynamics, better soundstage depth and height, has much better 3D presentation and timbre to the notes. None of them are excellent in clarity.
Overall I find the X2's to be a lot more engaging and enjoyable.

I find them both to be very comfortable but the X2's are a good deal heavier.

As always ymmw

confused between this and shp 9500. Can anyone tll the differences?

If I recall correctly the l2 uses a 40mm, and the 9500s have 50mm drivers.
I've had both 40mm Fidelio driver, and have 9500

They are "OK" , not top tier. the 9500 are very mellow and relaxed like a 2.1 setup a college student might have hooked up to pc
Fidelio 40mm has some punch, somewhat refined, and tame. Again, these are "ok"

IF i had to pick a Philips, I'd go X2, 9500's as a backup for home relaxed listening. Key word: Backup

My X2 have almost no bass at all, but when I take them off, I do hear bass punch coming from them. When I put my ear against the metal mesh I actually hear more bass coming from them than when I have them on. Anyone that has this?

Sound wise how do these compare to the shp9500s

More treble, that at times can border on sibilant. Clamping force is very loose. I have both and there is no comparison as far as I am concerned. The X2 has it all over the 9500. That is why the price difference. I paid more for the X2 expecting a better HP and got it. YMMV

Edit:spelling
