That's dilemma @ James. I guess we have to interchange..lol. Actually buddy, The stock JVC FX700 tips sound wonderful on its intended iem, but I don't use them for that. I have this large on the Orto, and the medium silicon on the Miles Davis. Ironically, I have the Monster foam hybrid on the FX700. I like the isolation better with those (ear canal isolation of course). I haven't tried the FX700 foams for anything. Have you? I'm curious to what they can or cannot do, but the silicons are nice.

Regarding treble on the e-Q7 - I feel that it's their weakest spot. I thought Westone 3 and most other high-end IEMs I tried have better treble. I even prefer SE530 highs, because it is more delicate and refined. e-Q7 is not bad, but a little rough/grainy in the treble to my ears, which with some music is almost a deal breaker for me. But I still keep the e-Q7 because their magical bass and mid performance just keeps me coming back to them.

I find the high mids, treble to be a little grainy too, not as smooth as CK10. That's just a tiny bit which doesn't bother me much though

Well, I just spent two hours or so listening to the e-Q7 with the FX700 silicon tips @ James, and that settles it. I have a new favorite tip for the Ortos>>> FX700 silicon tips!! Finally a tip for me that doesn't take away from the bass or mids, but brings out more details in the treble. Very nice tip!! Second favorite tip is the Sony hybrid... So FX700 has given me double pleasure @ James (or should I say JVC has?)....lol.

Are the JVC FX700 silicons are the same as those on their cheap low-end phones?

Hello Bennyboy. That I couldn't answer being that the FX700 is my first pair of JVCs. Perhaps James or the other fellas will have more insight on this for you. Hurry and get a FX700 so that I can enjoy some more of your musings.

The only way to get more tips is to buy another FX700 James

I'll take that off your hands and you can keep the tips LOL

On a more serious note..what kind of tips are they?

No @ germanturkey. The Monster tips aren't being sold individually as of yet.

What an ingenious and altruistic suggestion! You aren't by any chance a politician, are you?

They are similar to the UE single flanges but slightly softer and stickier.

@james: I'm glad you think so! I was thinking what a great idea I just had..although no I'm no lawyer :P I'm more of an actuary than a lawyer

I think I'm starting to like multiple flanged tips again outside of foam tips. I would imagine they wouldn't work for me. The only time I don't use that is when I have hybrids on my PL30 but that iem isn;t really used for sound quality but more just watching shows before I go to sleep.

You guys are a bad influence on me... I just picked up a slightly used pair of RE0s in the For Sale Forum to give them a try..

The e-Q7s and the W3s are the IEMs I've kept so far. I already sold my CK-10s as they just lacked the Bass I seem to need..

Well, I got the RE0s today and I'm driving them with my old Xenos OHA-REP Amp with the OPA2228UA/LMH6654MA combination which has a nice tight low end and they have plenty of Bass. I'll see how they sound with the P-51 Mustang tomorrow...

I hope it's a slow day at work tomorrow....
beerchug.gif

I have a lot of Data to pull tomorrow and that always goes better with some good music and the isolation of a good pair of IEMs..

I don't think I'll be selling the e-Q7s or the RE0s anytime soon..

What a Thread - I picked up 2 pairs of great sounding IEMs in the last couple weeks...

That's quite interesting. The RE0 has plenty of bass but the CK10 doesnt? Most if not all who have had them both would agree that the CK10 has more than the RE0.

edit: in any case enjoy them
smily_headphones1.gif
I do regret selling them sometimes but then I remember that the CK10 is better than the RE0 so not much issues after I remember that.

Hey Eric, feel free to gift me with a pair, and I'll happily review em for you
L3000.gif

To be honest, I've tried the Sony Hybrids and I've tried the Complys and for my ears the stock large Orto silicones are the best, soundwise. In the portable amps forum, someone's commented about the EQ-7s being all about shallow insertion and seal, and I think that's right - with the silicones, you're just trying to get a good seal, not aiming for deep penetration (ahem).
