ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

I just read a Japanese page that claims the Onkyo player is limited to 288GB maximum storage, including the 32gb internal.  So, two 128gb SDs or some other combo equalling 256gb removable storage.

With other players, users often exceed the stated limits, so hopefully this one will the same, or upgraded through fimrware.  (or the page I read is wrong).

Sorry but this don't count. If 128 GB is supported 200, 256 GB (and more) will work fine, since the device has full SDXC standard already with 128 GB support. I agree with firmware only on old devices, as example rockbox and my old school sansa clip+ can easily use a 512 GB SD card (with micro SD to SD adapter) with FAT32 formatted.

Yes, ignore what its description says.
In FAT32 mode, you can put max 2TB (2000GB) per a card. Your player will read it no matter what its description says...
The manufacturers don't collect too many FLAC albums so they're lazy regarding microSD card storage description.
I bet in the mid next year, there will be a microSD card that surpasses 256GB... perhaps even 512GB will be there.
A 512GB microSD card already exists... they're taking a bit too long to put this out there.

If you get two of these 512GB microSD cards, you get 1TB on Onkyo and Pioneer.
AK players will be stuck at 256GB + one micro SD .. and their built-in 256GB storage is slow as hell. It's as slow as old SD cards and definitely slower than normal HDDs..
This upcoming microdia SD card series has upgraded 300MB/s speed. The only problem is its high price.

Is anyone comparing this to the qp1r ? I
Would like some opinions please .... ready to jump decided against zx2 because of these 2 new high rez player's.
It doesn't exist yet in the open market, and I would doubt (seeing the QP1R isn't on general release either) that anyone would be lucky enough to get the two side by side!

...I have the QP1R with me here, and - am definitely looking at the Onkyo to go toe to toe with the Questyle, Acoustic Research M2, and - the ZX2 :D

Magnolia section at best buy is having their grand opening Friday and they have the zx2 . Best buy lets you trade in electronic gear for gift card towards anything . Also best buy runs specials and will ask sony if can do a deal on zx2 if it just sits in store .. $1200 is alot for most best buy customers. But Im leaning towards qp1r because of its dedication to sound and no apps wifi , bluetooth . Plus really like the looks of qp1r !

I also use a rockboxed clip+ for running duty.  It will take 64gb but not my new 128gb . . .   Your comment above makes me want to give that another try !

Welp....just saw the vid demo of the other DAP which will compete with The Pioneer and have unsubbed.
No graphic 10 band eq's for me in 2016.  I'm pretty sure it will run an Onkyo app on it but 1 gig of Ram is a no.

Now it's the Pioneer....or the Onkyo

The speed diff is clear and the screen quality is too.

 Depends on what you value.

The speed difference from 1 to 2 gigs on a droid is not a small thing and a 800x480ips screen is iphone 2 quality. Personal choices. Just made mine or at least eliminated one. I bought a e18 last week and got 3 FiiO items soI'd like to try another and the Pioneer and Onkyo look appealing.

well when is its release date for the onkyo, although i do not like the looks of either of those daps, but sound is more important

Make sure right cluster size for fat32 is used. I only use Sanddisk or Kingston cards never have had any issue.

I think X7 will destroy DP-X1 and XDP-100R

We know nothing sound wise from this DAP or the X7.
We know nothing much UI wise from both the DP-X1 and X7.

However, FiiO already has a user base for its DAP, which is not the case for Onkyo, so by volume one could expect the X7 would sell more.
Let's wait and see :)
