Hello,

Be careful a little.
For my specific case, the 2.5 balanced connection between my Onkyo and my Oppo PM3 does not work for a reason I never found out. Am I doing something wrong ?
I use a proper simple strait 4 pin TRRS (R+R-L-L+) cable. There is an obvious phase problem which can be demonstrated by playing a mono file.
Again, I hope what people call "stage" is something else than a phase problem between channels. ??
For now, until I have more time to dig the question, I only use the un-balanced amp. With a short 1-2m cable anyway

Does anyone think the Onkyo and Oppo do not have the same TRRS standard ?

One could be CTIA, while the other OMTP. This would explain the out-of-phase issue.

I used my PM3s with DP-X1 all the time in balanced mode, I think you got the wrong cable .I will try and link the one I had which was only 9 bucks on Amazom.

Hello Friends:

Does anyone know a procedure to get past the Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP) dialogue on this device once you install this ROM?
I have the original Google account that I set this device up with when I purchased it, but its not accepting it. I explain why in this post.

Thank you very much! :)

I just picked up a set of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphone (250ohms) I'm looking to use the with an Onkyo DPX1A portable Hi-Res player and need a headphone amp, Unfortunately I don't have much budget to start with, I was looking at the Schiit Magni 3 http://www.schiit.com/products/magni-3
or the Schiit Vali 2 http://www.schiit.com/products/vali-2
The Magni has more power and is solid state, the Vali has a bit less power and has a tube (pre) and solid state amp, being I'm not able to demo these, what do you recommend?
I was leaning towards the Magni, I just can't see a single tube pre add any extra warmth to the sound.

Thanks!

There's no need, surprisingly, for an extra amp to drive dt1990 on x1a.
This can comes with 250 Ohm impedance and Tesla 2.0 tech, which makes it super easy to drive. (Easier than my 32 Ohm dt990 lmao)
Set gain on High and vol around 100, will be sufficient.
I'm using ifi micro idsd bl as my portable amp/dac as well and found no distinguishable difference on 1990 driven by it or x1a.

here is how to about unlocking your onkyo dp-x1. compiled twrp for our device and here is the guide.

prerequisites - fastboot + fastboot drivers for onkyo dp-x1.

okay, so here we go:

turn off your device.
turn it on holding backward and power buttons

connect it to pc.

in command line do

and then you will see your device connected.

next thing - we verify that bootleader unlocked or not

pay attention to

if it is false - unlock your bootloader by

here is twrp 3.0.2-0 recovery:

md5:

while you're at the bootloader, you can try to boot to your new twrp recovery by doing

if it is booting and working for you, you can replace stock recovery with it by flashing it from fastboot bootloader by

or by flashing image through twrp itself (available through menu)

Hello all,

Sorry to intervene on this quite old post. I recently bought a DP-X1 and I'm in the process of installing the DP-X1_0.1.37.8_VTX_Lite firmware. I'd like to backup my boot & system partitions but twrp recovery seems to be unable to read data on the DP-X1 internal storage, SD card 1 is mounted but SD 2 is not. The select partitions menu is desperately empty...
Is there some trick to make backup work ?

Thank you for your help !

Hey,
I just ordered the Audeze LCD-2 and im wondering if anyone here is using them with dpx1. Would need amp? Audeze says optimal power is 1-4W and dpx1s output power is 0.150W right?

Hi CoCostanza
Yes i am using these withe DP-X1, But with a Schit Magni 3 Amp, very happy so far I don't have the reducer to 3.5mm to try just straight into the DP-X1:gs1000smile::gs1000smile:

Edit mine are the LCD-2C

Hi guys I've a question..

I'm from Singapore and DP-X1A costs $999 SGD here for a new one. But I've got an AK-JR(SJ).

I currently have 2 amazing IEMs (for their price range)

1) Meelectronics Pinnacle P1
2) Fidue A83

While both of these currently sound absolutely amazing on my JR, I'm thinking if I should spend the money to upgrade to the DP-X1A for better UI experience, Wi-Fi, tidal support and presumably better sound quality.

I really love the wide soundstage experience of my current set-up and I'm unsure if DP-X1 will be a good upgrade from the JR. I really like A&K products however the UI on the JR is killing me slowly from the inside, and their upper tier products are extremely pricey.

I would like to hear your opinions thanks!!
Wide soundstage on AK JR lol. There is nothing like this, sorry mate:) AK JR has noticeable smaller soundstage than iBasso DX80. And DX80 doesnt come even close to the Onkyo. Actually Onkyo DP-X1A and Pioneer XDP-300r (almost the same sound) have one of the biggest soundstages in DAP market (some even say that bigger than sony wm1a). But this soundstage gives you some cons, like a bit thinner and lighter sound signature.
