My Sennheiser velour ear pads came in today

It was a little bit harder to put in than in my HD25 but they went in fine and they are a big difference in comfort. Highly recommended.

I used a 2 wire teflon coated SPC with a SPC shield. BTW, do you have any fit issues with the neutrik L plug? Mine breaks contact easily.

Not at all. So far is working just fine.

I played with my second pair yesterday and re-cabled them with silver plated copper wire. Big difference compared to the silver wire, The sound got warmer and too dark also the bass got too boomy. I didn' like the sound.

To make sure I was hearing right I gave them the acid test..... I asked my wife to listen to both without telling her which one was which. She picked the silver cable as the better sound. So I just order more silver wire to re-cable the second pair.

Compared my silver K81DJ to my HD25 with Equinox cable yesterday. Even that is not a fair comparison due to the cost difference of the phones and cables the K81DJ sound was very close to the HD25. I would say about 90%of it at considerable less cost.
