Yep.. lifting off the battery connector is definitely the common and most costly if you damage the board pads.

I have been using my modded iPod for a few months now thought I had no problems but an issue has been popping up that's very annoying some songs just cut out halfway through or skip completely I've come across about a dozen so far anybody know the cause and the solution, I'm using a tarken iflash duel with 2 Kingston 512gb cards and a 7th gen iPod classic.

I was looking for longtime for a ipod classic and found one in a flea market. Even it hasn't any song on it ( ipod 5.5 , 80 GB ) at the time it looked like it works. Once I came back home, I connected to my PC. It was recognized by my PC, but not by Itunes ( or Yamipod ). The ipod makes a weird sound when the hard drive is spinning. I cannot drag any file or document in hd mode into it. So I assumed it is a hard drive problem ( please correct me if I am wrong )
 
So I am thinking replacing it with the cheapest solution ( as I am a poor  student in Paris ). So I made a research, and the best solution is the CF card  adapter way. 64 GB is the best compromise for me  in terms of price / capacity . I also intend to change the front / Back part as they are awfully scrartched by the slimmer version case. So I have few questions

I can't speak to your CF card. Of course, Sd cards are cheaper than CF so I'd try to find a SD adapter to save $. Tarkan's adapters work well but are more money. With regard to your battery, the 80gb battery will not fit in the slim housing. You'd need to replace it with the 30gb battery.

I had no idea I could use a thin backplate. I'm having a real hard time finding a case for this device (that isn't brutally ugly). 

Good to know about PNY too. I'm on Amazon now and PNY is coming in a few bucks less than the Samsung EVO too. 

I know this is from two weeks ago (haven't read the thread since) but I'm using this hoodie as a "case". I love being able to have the "naked" iPod while searching for music but still have it well protected in my pocket. People are also rapidly amused by it.

I had a similar problem when i loaded music with rockbox. Since you didn't, I'm not sure what is causing your problem. If it skips in the same place each time, then the file is probably corrupted & I would try reloading it. Also, I remember someone else posting a similar problem. A thread search may help you.

I'm only familiar with tarkan's adapters which are reliable but about $40 US each.

I had the same problem and it is so annoying. It is iTunes that is causing the problem but there is no clear-cut solution. I therefore used iTunes alternative software called PodTrans Pro to load the songs on to the iPod and now the problem is solved.

I don't think iTunes is to blame at least not entirely, the only songs affected were in my initial sync, the 300 or so songs I've put on since then are fine,I did go Appleless for a few months earlier this year I tried a few iTunes alternatives,all i'd ever used was iTunes so the learning curve on some of them sort of sucked all the fun out of it,but due to other circumstances unrelated to my iPod issues I'm back using it and will probably keep using it
