Hi is 120gb ipod classic 6th gen or 7th gen?

Officially all classics are 6th gen, just different revisions.

Unofficially, people call 80gb classic and 160gb fat classic "6th gen" and call the 120gb classic either 6thgen, 6.5 gen or 7th gen, depending on whether they call the slim 160gb 7th gen or 7.5gen!

Main point is it can't go beyond 128gb without rockboxing.

the 'fat'ones seem to be better for fitting the upgrades - I.e. HDD and battery etc.
Which is the best revision to upgrade with a 1tb? one version has the Wolfson DAC but I'm not sure which one?

Is this news? Tarkan now has an iFlash Solo SD card adapter.

However, the price difference between that and the Dual SD adapter is small - may as well go for the Dual.

Yeah its a new board, he also has an iFlash-Quad (4 microSD cards) but I think he sold out real quick on that from what I read.

I ordered a Solo to put on a 3rd or 4th gen.

iPod Videos 60GB and 80GB and the 7G Classic 160GB slim are the best choices to mod.

The "5.5g" iPod Video 80GB is probably the easiest.  It's the old fat back model that used the 10mm thick HDD.  They're easy to open, and you don't have to buy a new back/cables etc.  And if you don't like the SSD power issues, you can always go down to a SD based system and throw in one of those fat batteries off alibaba or fleabay.

I finally got around to doing a few updates to my RWA 5.5G iMod. I updated the SD card from 128GB to 256GB. I previously removed the 1TB msata due to stability and now use that in my laptop.

I addition to the SD card update, I also replaced the hold switch which didn't work, and the headphone jack that was going bad. I also removed my clear iVue cover. It was cheap, cracking, and just didn't look as good. So I switched back to the original white face plate. The face plate that was on the iPod when I bought it in 2007. I also added the black touch wheel.

I also felt odd at the airport with the clear cover, and amp and clear LOD, both copper and silver. In the next month I'll be deploying with the military so doing a lot of flying. Always felt it looked suspicious with all the exposed wire and motherboard Lol.

I was able to plug it in, format and sync my music (130GB) all real quick, first try, one operation, hassle free. It was nice. Although been around for a while I've learned a few things. Eventually I'll upgrade to dual SD cards when I need it. Money has gone to other hobbies. But when I'm deployed, I may order the adapter and combine my 128GB and 256GB SD cards.

That's what I did, ordered a dual adapter and a single SD card because it is enough capacity for now. I'll order a second one if I need to upgrade.

so theoretically, you could put 4x 200gb msd cards, hitting the 800gb mark, that's pretty cool.

Samsung announced a 256gb uSD card yesterday, but you could just as easily put 2x512gb in a dual adapter and get a 1tb iPod.
