I loved my ES7 but I found the ESW9 to be a worthwhile upgrade. At almost 3x the price it is definitely a matter of opinion since the ES7 is lovely as well.

hahah, interesting, I actually bought es7 to replace my esw9~they sound different ^ ^

Hey guys, I've had my es7s for about 7 months now and have enjoyed them a lot
smily_headphones1.gif

Just wondering though, do any of you use them with an amp?

Because I have a LDI+ and cmoy and haven't noticed any real difference with them amped or un-amped. There is a difference though, just very slight. Does anyone have the same experience?

I guess this is good and bad. Good that they are pretty efficient, and bad because it's a bit disappointing that they can't really get any better. BUT that can be argued to be a good point as well

Role call for what amp you use with your es7s! GO!

Every time I get a PM from newbies asking about ES7 and amps, I keep telling them that an amp is not really necessary and the money is better spent on a good DAC. Me 00.2 cents.
The ES7 does improve with amplification but IME, the DAC is more important, brings out more details in the ES7.

FWIW, the D1 and ES7 are a really good match.

x2

The sound changes with an amp but doesn't improve much at all, especially with a budget amp. Good advice about the DAC.

Everything sounds so much clearer using my Predator amp from my iPods line out than from their headphones out.

Surprisingly, while the new Nano's headphone out sound better than my iPod Classic 160gb, the line out sound better on the Classic than the Nano, to my ears... That or the Classic's line out is more forgiving to mp3 compression than the Nano is, even if I almost only listen to 320kbps VBR encoded tracks...

Still, love my ES7

As there are so much discussions regarding "Burning In", I contacted the official Audio Technica support ragarding dos and don'ts!

"There are a lot of opinions on “burning-in” headphones, personally I would not use pink noise but some dynamic music. Using the headphones straight from the box is not a problem and will sound a little less brittle / more mellow after about 10-30 hours of use.

they truly sound great!
I got my 2nd pair yesterday and still in the process of burning in.
One of best portable headphones IMO - with exception of few IEMs.
But for 100$ bucks, fantastic bargain!

can someone post how these look wearing them on a head? I currently have the ath-fc700 and im looking for a smaller headphone...does anyone know how the size of the es7 compares to the fc700?

im debating between the es7 and the es55, but i know there isnt lots of information on the es55....im mainly concerned about the size.

i know the es7 has better sound, but i think the es55 are smaller..

so my questions are

1. how do the es7 look on a head (pics please)
2. how do they compare to fc700 size
3. how is the sound compared to es55

if anyone could answer these question, it will help me A LOT!! Thanks!

The fakest thing in the above pictures is the rounded headband; I wish it was that rounded off! The real headband is too straight where I had to try and bend it in the middle so it doesn't stick out so far on the sides. Also it's a killer if you wear glasses but not too bad if you raise the back of the frames so they rest above the earpads.

Yeah, it is ><
You should try looking into the es7 headband mod though, it seems to be quite a nice remedy!

Don't click them. People have reported that it may now possibly be linked to a virus.

To Timbre: Have you tried the "es7 headband mod." It definitely takes away a lot of the sticking out on the sides.

there are debates about the burn-in... but my ES7 didn't change much, sounds real good right out of the box.

could someone tell me if these es7s are real or fake?

My friend said it sounded treble-heavy... and i agree >_> From what I know, I thought the es7 was supposed to be strong in bass.

Based on the limited info I can glean from your pics, they look real. The velour bag definitely is, which is a fairly good indicator of their authenticity. Did you just receive them? In my experience, they are a bit trebly to begin with, but extended burn-in really helps. Bass perception is highly dependent on position and how well the pads are sealing on your ears...so be sure to play around with positionality to get the best sound.
