I was really thinking on getting the beyerdynamics dt770's, or the ShureSRH840's but when i saw that the SRH440's are on sale for $55 dollars i'm really considering saving myself a bunch of money.

 

How are the 440's? I don't really see these cans being talked about much here.

 

Good deal on these as well?

 

I enjoy a punchy bass, with just overall great quality.

 

My other cheap solution for headphones were the Superlux HD660's.

 

Any suggestions on my consideration on this purchase of the 440's?

The Shure SE215's will easily be the best out of that list for all around listening and portability. I'd nab them.
 
Saving money doesn't always mean you're getting a good deal. The Shure 440 is a mid/bassy headphone compared to the Shure 840 which is more neutral and less colored. The 440 isn't saving money. It's buying something very different from the 840.
 
You're going to get more bass from the SE215's, a good IEM will beat most/all entry headphones in that department each time simply due to isolation. If you want a full headphone, I'd suggest the 840, but the 440 will have less quality in general and more bass in the upper bass and lower mids making it a little boomy compared to the 840 which is, again, a neutral headphone that can do everything both up and down. Overall the higher quality pick would be the 840. Which is why it's talked about a lot, and the 440 is not.

Yes, I would prefer a full-sized headphone to basically replace my AT a700's.
 
I would like the 840's but the price is nearly 100 dollars more at where this 440 is priced at

When I listened to the 440 and 840, they were quite similar.  The 440 at that price is a total steal, though--go for it.
