Subbass isn't the same as tight bass at all. Subbass is the very low and hardly audible frequencies of the bass. It interprets to the subtle rumble of the bass. The punch of the bass is mostly found in the midbass

oops my bad. anyway a good balance between the sub and mid is essential. at least for me

Foetus here.

Actually I've ben meaning to talk to the woman carrying me about the stock umbilical cable she's feeding me with -- lots of bass and treble, but where's the mids? The nutrition is in the mids! Can anyone recommend an upgrade?

Lucky sister... my 10 year old sister has a pair of cheap Etys that I got her but that's it.

But yeah, Head-Fi is definitely getting younger. As a college senior, I'm always surprised at the number of people in high school here that have very nice equipment.

There are a few almost-dead ancient old farts around, but we don't seem to pay as much attention to bass as you youngsters.

Nice to see younger people getting into head-fi.

I remember when i was in university/college i was walking to class outside and a bunch of little kids (probably no more than grade 8) were walking by and one of them screamed out "NICE GRADOS"...i smiled back at him and he knew i could hear him cause they're obviously open back.
