Waah! What a work! So you're rightfully considered to be an artist huh? You earned it!

What I wondered, John, is if this also makes the wood waterproof? Not sure if it needs to be but since the parts that touch the ears can easily get greasy, sweaty, whatever, does this finish take care of all that? Or is it simply not necessary because it's tropical wood?

Our process is the wood is stabilized
Super thin super glue is also used throughout the build and the final coating is a few layers of hypoallergenic uv activated laquer used in the hearing aid industry.

The glue sinks down into the wood pores, seals the wood, makes the wood not weep any natural oils, and gives the laquer a surface that it can better chemically bond to.

After all that process, the wood pretty much takes on the properties of plastic/strength/durability etc etc

I always wondered how the Ronin was finished. Super interesting. Wonder how resistant they are to scratches based on this finishing method.

The above mentioned process is for wood housings. The standard ronin is made from A/B epoxy and other materials = not really and apples to apples situation

That's pretty hard laquer, but like most things, it probably can not endure being placed in a pocket next to coins and keys and ground together. It obviously has its limitations.
How many layers of lacquer does Ronin have?
