8 core is a "useable" meaning it isnt overly heavy and it is flexible.
Yeah, but "useable" doesn't really say much. I was unable to find any info (user's experiences) on this cable as well as your Aureole Cable on the web. In case you are able to do a picture of those next to each other, it might say a lot (I know the standard cable and Khan cable, so I'm able to imagine the difference).

I'm receiving my Khan next week and I'll be able to send you some photos.

I'm primarily a headphone guy but decided to pick up an IEM while in NYC yesterday. I checked Audio46' inventory on-line, saw the Kahn was in stock, read two reviews, and bought a pair on a whim in between meetings. I normally spend more time researching before making gear purchases, but it looks like I lucked out and ended up with an amazing IEM. That said, I have a couple rookie questions that are likely hidden within this mega thread.

1. Tips clearly make a huge difference on the signature with Kahn. I typically prefer silicone (SpinFit) but find the stock foam tips work well. Yes, it's a very subjective topic, but before I start ordering various silicone tips to mimic the signature I'm getting with foam I thought I'd ask for a few opinions to point me in the right direction. I've tried the Symbion hybrid tips which just don't work for my ears, nor do multi flange tips. My ear canal is very shallow.

2. I found the comments a few pages back regarding cables interesting. I typically upgrade cables for aesthetic and ergonomic reasons, but appreciate the subtle sonic changes that follow. If the signature/presentation is actually altered or not, some times for me it's worth the spend knowing I've done everything possible to get the very best out of the HP/IEM. Psychological or not, if I think it sounds better, then it sounds better. Has anyone tried the Effect Audio Cleopatra Octa? That seems like it would be a good fit.

3. On another topic that is debatable and potentially psychological, what is the general view regarding burn-in? What should I expect? I'm generally of the mindset that it surely won't hurt, so I've had them burning for the past 12 hours and will let it go a few days.

4. Finally, one more subjective topic. I'd appreciate any suggestions on a TOTL dap that pairs well with the Kahn. I only use IEM's when mobile and have a Hugo 2 for hotel use and a dragonfly for flights. All of my music is streamed through Tidal and Qobuz which I store offline on my iPhone XS Max, thus my DAP must support off-line streamed content. I've read that the TOTL A&K DAPs may not be the best pairing for this hybrid (correct me if I'm wrong). I assume the DX220 would be a good fit, but am open to suggestions. I'm more concerned with performance than price.

Pardon the long post and thanks for any input you provide on the thread or via PM.

Regarding dap

Reports of artifact with the use of the 220 and ak sp2000

There is a inline emi filter that is available if such an issue occured.

I use the AK SP 1000 copper, nothing but grins to report.

Thanks for the response. Assuming an inline emi filter would be in the form of an adapter/dongle, I'd prefer to keep it simple and go with want works and "grin" worthy...

I will add, that to my surprise the new Cobalt Dragonfly has a very strong hiss with Kahn off my iphone, but the older red model is silent. I won't leap to the conclusion that the issue is 100% tied to Cobalt since I saw another user pleased with the results a few pages back. I've tried them off my Chord TT2 and Chord m-scaler / DAVE and both are top notch with black backgrounds. I'm listening off a MAC / Roon > UpTone Regen > Hugo 2 right now and it's outstanding as well. I hear a little static every now and then but chalk that up to dirty power or my MAC.
