Spent a few hours last night with my new K10's. I gotta say, all of the reviews were spot on! I ordered without listening to them first because of all of what was said in the reviews seemed to be the sound signature I was looking for. Also, here in Arizona we don't have places to try them. All of the reviews were right!
I don't have the words many of the reviewers have, but I am impressed so far. And, that's just with my HTC One M8 as the source. I can't wait to try better sources. The bass extends so far and sounds so realistic and natural, not forced. The entire sound is so sweet and open, with not a beat missing.
I heard things I never heard before, clearly. On John Mellencamp's Rain On The Scarecrow I heard deep background vocals I never knew existed, even after listening to that song for decades. And that's just a 256 kbps MP3!
Going to CD rips to flac, on Moondance I could distinctly hear the sax matching the bass note for note. I never heard the separation before. It's amazing, the clarity! Wots.. Uh The Deal showed such stunning detail, each guitar strum sounded almost as if I was in the recording studio. I'm sure with a better source it will move me in the room with David Gilmour. With Ben Harper I could see the emotion from his voice. And Phish live is like being there. I could smell the... nvm...
I have a Pono player on the way and balanced cables will be my next acquisition. Thanks so much for such an awesome package!
About the stock cables. They are more comfortable and flexible than I thought they'd be. Such a relief compared to the heavy cables of my SE530's. And that's not even the thin line cable. If I wasn't going balanced I wouldn't think about replacing them.
The CIEM's themselves are also so light and comfortable. Perfect fit! I don't feel them after a while. After 20 minutes with the SE530 foam tips I'd be digging in my ear to scratch at the itch. I didn't feel uncomfortable for a second with these.
Very happy customer!
