Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Well, I just picked up my K10's from UPS.  All I can say is wow... it's difficult to articulate how incredible these things sound!  Looks like I'm not getting much sleep tonight

I have the same difficulty in trying to articulate the sound of the K10s.

But hey, I love them, and in the end, that's all that counts.

Do the demo version of k10 has great differences with the cm version?

It depends on a lot of factors....  and that is the problem....

The ear canal volume (air space/distance etc) will differ from a custom product when compared to a demo. Differ by how much?

No way to tell, but that difference causes a change in the sound signature...

How much of a change...  I couldn't tell you, and frankly no one could.

Is this a "bad thing?"   Not necessarily bad, not necessarily good either....

sorry to be so vague, but that is just the physics of sound at play.

Most people report that a custom product yields a better sound than a demo product......    I am not supporting that statement, I am only reporting that statement.

Okay so Mrs. Nancy just contacted me that my order has already been received and is ready to be forged in hellfire by the enigmatic hands of the Wizard. I gave what I thought was a truly creative design motif so I'm very excited to see how you guys run with it! It should be something that captures and enthralls the minds and thoughts (quite literally) of most anybody!

I will freely admin that I'm a bit mad.

I had the chance to use my K10s on a cross-country trip, and thanks to the new relaxed regulations I was able to use them gate-to-gate.  These things blocked out pretty much all of the air and engine noise (not completely, but probably a 95% reduction; enough to let me continue to hear all of the lovely details).  I didn't think it was possible, but I'm falling more and more in love with my K10s every day.

I'd also love to give Noble a huge shout out on the comfort and seal on these K10s.  I was able to sleep (with my head against the outer bulkhead) with my K10s in, and they felt like there weren't in at all.  The seal was also so good that I actually had to let some air out of my ears during take off and let it back in during landing, because I could actually feel the pressure change in my ears as the pressure changed in the cabin.  I've never had something that fit so well that I actually had to adjust it.  This is a really well-finished product.

Here is to long trips, with the K10

Thanks!  I went with wood faceplates, amber shells, clear canals and gold all around.  They look amazing in person.  I'll post photo's and a review later.  All I can currently say about the sound is that it's balanced, slightly warm, rich, and completely satisfying.  High and low extension and quality is amazing.  Note decay is perfect to my ears.  The sub base quantity and quality is particularly enjoyable to me coming from the Westone W4's.

Interesting, I'm coming from the W4 too, and definitely find the low and high end extensions to be lacking, and the sound overall is not quite as detailed as I'd like. Sounds like the k10 may just be perfect.

The K10 definitely fixes those shortcomings.  More extension in both directions, more detail, and more depth.

The 8.A is awesome.  If you're happy with it, you should continue to be happy with it.

That being said, the K10 takes the 8.A, fixes everything that was wrong with it, and brings the whole package to a whole new level.  It's really that good.  If you have the money for it, it's a really fantastic upgrade.  But that being said, the 8.A is still fantastic, and there's a reason it is rated as highly as it is.  If you're happy with what you have, you should remain happy.

Problem is: I have the money.:)

That isn't a problem anymore.. and you know it.. deep inside of you the audiophiliac monster has a big grin on his face, as both you and the monster knows that this is a done deal.. and that makes this so called problem dissapear.. you don't have to think about it anymore.. the purchase has allready been done..

I'm crossong my fingers.. I have small ears and a narrow entrance to the ear canal on my left ear so I'm not sure that I can get the K10's to fit or not.. that is what I call a problem!

I posted my ear impressions to Noble today to find out.. but won't get my hopes up and start the "what kind of design process" before I know that a pair of K10's can be mine, as I would be even more dissapointed if I did that and later on found out that it couldn't be done.

I have the same issue... Narrow canal...
Sent the wizard a few pictures to see if it's doable.
