Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

To clarify:

As we grow, some of the history of Noble, or the background becomes a bit murky.

I've seen statements about Noble being a Chinese company etc etc.

To be clear, Noble is a registered company in the USA. It is currently owned by my brother and I. We are both USA citizens. That said, Jim resides in Texas, where we have an office / hub. I reside in Thailand & Victor resides in Thailand as well.

Abacus (Nancy) also a member of Noble resides in China.

So while we are an American company, all of us are multi cultural and multi lingual and Victor is even multi national as he holds a Swedish passport and a Thai passport.

As a team, all of us speak more than one language (Thai/English/Mandarin Chinese/Japanese)

In summary, we are small but efficient & wear many hats.

After building a set of IEMs with Amboyna, I decided to make a knife and use the residual wood. Knives are also a family tradition, every year my father would pass a knife to his father & his father would pass a knife to my dad, it was almost ceremonial.

We still carry on that family tradition, trading fine crafted knives between family and friends.

A pair of prestige sultans were made from the block, personally selected by a head-fi member

That member must have amazing taste! 😎

@FullCircle that knife is beautiful! Love the handle and Damascus blade. Bit of a kitchen knife nerd myself.

Just chiming in on this as well since I was once with the company before moving onto where I am now with iFi and Hapa.

Not really sure where complaints or theories like this come from, but everything John says here is true.

Many companies in this industry are as multi-cultural and diverse as Noble is. Truly one of the perks of being in the vertical we are in!

Personally, I don't care much about the origin of an audio company, whether it's from China or USA or a European country, the product quality is the thing I pay attention to. As long as their products are excellent and my wallet won't be hurt, I'll buy them.

Understood, and in today's world, it is fairly impossible for one product to be built solely in one country as parts are sourced all over the world. Basically it takes a global effort to build anything today.

It certainly makes an interesting challenge as we weave together a web of suppliers around the world. Parts are coming from everywhere. I used to buy gold plated wire from Vietnam, sourced directly from Sonion. We now get it out of a company in California, but I have no idea where they get their gold plating material from.

For the knives we buy blades from Japan. The damascus for the IEMs is forged in the USA. About 13 years ago, I would buy sockets from India.

Hard to even comprehend how business was done before the internet.

Introducing the Viking.

The Viking imbues a masterfully crafted Damascus steel body with a full spectrum of sound orchestrated by the Wizard's magic, resulting in the ultimate forging of steel and sound.

Deep extended bass provided by dual 10mm dynamic drivers, Lush mids and highs complimentary of four Knowles balanced armature drivers and super high frequencies rendered by quad electrostatic super tweeters.

I'm seeing a $58,880 HKD (~$7500 USD) price tag...

Short impression of Viking, i'm not sure how long demo unit has been played and played using SP2000.
Size and dimension is relatively the same with Sultan and not too heavy. The IEM and cable carry silver/damascus theme.

TL;DR: the sound is like Sultan "extended", most noticeably in treble region has more bite.

The mid is flat, more less same like Sultan. The bass has little more impact than Sultan (to my memory). They also not hard to drive, just turn up few volume level compare to Sultan. I haven't check using amplifier whether they can scale more or not. Viking also has more detail than Sultan Damascus, however the soundstage i believe have same width and tall with Sultan, though i haven't direct A/B, i'm quite sure.
Overall build quality is match the price but the sound is subjective. :relaxed:
