That's an accurate representation of how I felt when I saw them.

Wow, I also listened to Love is Blindness (from Achtung Baby) just now on my new wizard Katanas :D

Apologies for re-posting the pic (for those on mobiles), but there was no other way to give them the credit they are due

Hey all, a quick question.
I was looking at a thread about a DAP I'm potentially interested in (Shozy Alien Gold), and a user said:
"It performs really well with low impedance multiple BA IEM's".

I know very little about such things; would this description apply to the Katana?

And generally speaking, what kind of technical specs should I be looking for, when trying to choose a DAP that would be a good match for the Katana?

Much obliged

My review of the Kaiser Encore is finished and will go up on audioprimate.blog, and HeadFi soon to follow. I'll post when it is up. :) For now, here's Doctor Frankenfurter:

really like your review :) well-made/written @glassmonkey. about the hiss problem, was it because of the cable? i've also noticed it (a bit) while listening in a quiet environment at home. using a plussound cable and aune m2. but afterwards, i tried listening again with the stock cable and a demo encore unit in a convention. there was no hiss, and if there was, unnoticeable. not sure what's the cause (looking at you, ear).

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! I needed to check some details with Brannan, so delayed post. It's now here on the HeadFi side. Feel free to check it out in it's original format here. I'd sell my mum for clicks. In fact, I just did.

not much has been said about Sage in general, so here's my take on it:
http://www.headfonia.com/review-noble-audio-sage-fantastic/

enjoy!

Nice review, thanks. I've had the Sage wizard universal in my cart before but backed down. Still considering picking up a pair.

I did find it funny that you mention the ALO CDM in the contex of power, yet it only outputs 125mW@32 Ohm (balanced), certainly not desktop class and many DAPs output more than that. Not a criticism in any way, just an observation on tuning vs power, reality vs myths. I agree 100% that different tuning is a big reason for owning different gear.

You're right that CDM is not a power beast in terms of specifications, but it certainly has more power than many/my DAPs and clearly more than a smartphone (at least mine)...

EDIT: the desktop class was meant for soundquality.

Thanks for your comment! Glad you still liked the read :)

Certainly, I get your meaning. :)

Compared to the K10 would you say you would miss the K10 massively when using the Sage? Not expecting the Sage to keep up to my K10 but I'm considering a less 'precious' IEM to travel with. Besides the slightly less bass impact you mention in your review would the Sage have a generally similar sound signature?

Good question. I wouldn't say I'd miss it massively, but I would miss it. Sage has a similar signature and reminds me in many ways of my K10. The Kaiser clearly wins in aspect of details, speed, cleanness, stage and is a bit more engaging if you will.
Sage is a very enjoyable piece of gear and the precision and imaging is outstanding in its class.

The sage

A half fullness, just right. Smooth, detailed, slightly forward vocals, great detail, a light touch, slight v, great highs and not harsh, excellent clarity, it has a holographic aspect. Everything is tight and fast,
