I've ordered Savanna from audiosanctuary.co.uk (I'm from Europe) yesterday. @FullCircle
 - do you know if they have it in stock or they have to order it from you somehow first?

You should ask Brannan that question. Send an inquiry through the noble website

Cheers

Has anyone tried the Encore vs Empire Ears Zeus XIV OR R?

I have encore and Zeus XIV. Haven't spent enough time comparing both to go into detail. Zeus is darker overall, thicker mids. Spatially I find the Zeus sounding bigger and more cohesive (Adel MAM fully closed). For bass the Encore has less sub bass but slightly beats out the Zeus in speed. Zeus can be quite sibilant in the treble, but a cable change does fix that for me.

Hi all!

I've been lurking around this forum for a few years, but I finally created an account today. Hurray!
I've got a question regarding the old acrylic universal K10 and it's newer, red aluminium-shelled remake. Thing is, I've owned the old acrylic K10U for a few years and recently I'm itching for an upgrade (or change).
When I went to a local store (I live in Singapore btw) yesterday, I was recommended to try the aluminium K10U by the friendly staff. I knew I wouldn't need to, 'cos I already have the K10. However, out of courtesy, I listened to the aluminium-shelled stunner.
And guess what? The red aluminium K10 sounds somewhat different from my trusty acrylic K10, with more energetic and clearer treble and (perhaps consequentially?) wider sound stage. Also, the overall loudness (or sensitivity, since now I'm a Head-fi member and have to start using the jargons LOL) seem to be increased in the newer model.
I'm confused, and can't seem to find any sources online that reviews the sonic difference between the acrylic and the aluminium versions. Also, I noticed some metallic fittings around the lumens of all 3 bores. Can someone enlighten me please? Is the sonic difference due to a redesign of some sort in the red aluminium model, or is it due to the aluminium shell? Otherwise, is it just my acrylic K10U becoming old?

For the record, I use Onkyo DP-X1, and the comparison was done using the stock Noble cables.

Cheers
Jeff

I think the newer K10UA is a slightly deeper fit than the older acrylic so possibly down to that?

Regarding an upgrade wouldn't the Kaiser Encore be a more fitting change as it is supposed to be an upgraded version of the K10 and has new drivers etc as apposed to just a shell change.

Thanks pal for the reply, but I don't think the deeper fit is the cause.

Here are my reasons.
Firstly, I managed to achieve a very good fit with the bi-flange tip with both versions of K10, so the position is optimal and shouldn't be a major factor influencing the sound.
Secondly, I noticed significant sonic difference only across the highs. Usually an improvement in isolation and fitting improves the bass, not the treble...

With regards to my upgrade, due to my limited budget, I'm torn among 3 options
1) reshelling my current acrylic K10 with Null Audio (Cheapest)
2) Wait for the Encore Universal arrive at my local store and have an audition. Order the customs if I like them (Most expensive, longest wait)
3) Getting a pair of second hand K10 CIEM and go for the ownership transfer service. (Second cheapest, but I need to know whether the K10 CIEM would sound like my acrylic K10U or the aluminium K10U if there REALLY has been a internal design modification like a MK II or something.)

Cheers,
Jeff

I don't know the reason for the difference then. Noble have said a few times that internally they are identical so no clue about that.

Personally out of your 3 options I would go for 2 as it makes sense to me to wait a bit longer and get the best thing you can instead of getting an older item but that's just me and I like shiny new stuff

From: Cagin

And it's only fair I repeat here what I told Brannan at the show:
"if the Katana would've come out 3 months earlier, I'm not sure I would've still picked the Zeus R, I might've gone for the Katana instead. You guys done a really good job with this new iem" I personally enjoyed the bass presentation of the Katana for example compared to the K10 which is punchy

But this is all subjective, so as always YMMV

Maybe @FullCircIe can clarify my doubts? :)

No offence but @toears I don't get what you mean??

doubts?

I thought your statements were more of an synopsis of what you heard?   Regardless, the parts are the same, drivers same, dampers are the same.  That being said you are not the first to say that the Gen 1 K10 U, sounds different than the K10 UA gen2 .

It is a fact that different materials/objects have different resonant characteristics...   perhaps this could (in your case) attribute to a detectable sonic difference?

Regardless, I do hope you find a Noble product that suits your fancy.
