Set it to stereo.
Set it to stereo.
I would think that the receiver, or pre/pro will down mix to stereo at the headphone jack regardless of what settings you use.
One would have to read the manual for the unit to verify that, of course..
MarcelE, have you tried it both ways? Do you hear any difference?

Would these slow down pad degradation?
Anyone familiar with any other headphones that is comparable to the sound signature of the X1's...closed or open-back?
It doesn't look like I ever got an answer to this but would appreciate those that really like their X1's, have you found a closed back with a similar sound? Bought the Denon AH-D600 on a whim the other day and that didn't work out too well. It seems like everything points to the HiFiMan or the Fostex T-600/900 for closed back.

My Shurrr 1540 sounds a lot like my X1
I've been going through ALOT of headphones lately. Recently purchased some Sennheiser HD600's but the clamp force, depth of earpads resting on my ears, and soundstage kill it for me. However, I do LOVE the mid range vocal reproduction of the HD600's. Are these X1's similar in sound? Lifelike with body and clarity such as the 600's? I'm be using these mainly for vocal playback like podcasts, youtube videos, and then gaming everyday. I've tried so many already and spend $750 on HD700's and am completely disappointed. Had to return those but they were soooooo comfortable.

They're going to be warmer than the HD600 but I heavily doubt it'll be to an extent that'll be a problem.
