New model Cowon - Plenue D2

I’ve actually been using the JetAudio ripper for the last few years - from the makers of JetEffects: http://www.jetaudio.com/

Their CD ripper component works well. Sometimes I have to manually input CD track info, but I mainly listen to metal and find that’s the case with most ripping software I’ve used.

Did anyone ever confirm that if replacing the internal 64GB card with a 128GB that the whole card is usable with up to 16000 tracks etc?
There’s not to many of us who have done the mod. Maybe the first poster of the mod? I can only confirm that it works with full usage of the card, but can’t confirm the file limitations. I can also confirm that it doesn’t seem to affect the player’s stability or UI. It pretty much runs like it did, but with more internal storage.

Great thanks - I like the idea of trying it but I guess it will invalidate my warranty.

Is it easy to do? I can see 4 screws on the outside of the case. Presumably I start with those and the 'back' drops out? Is it that simple?

Just got player and it recognises a 200Gb card.
Now put 200GB of music on that card and see how much of it you can actually play (ahem...the first 128GB only...ahem)

Even worst the internal card is restricted to max 8000 files no matter the card sizes 64GB or 128GB, it simply stops scanning files at the limits to update the database, files that are not in the database aren't showing anywhere and thus never accessible.
Their mindset was for big-sized hires files is more than enough.
quote old post somwhere back:"When the database updates at bootup, it stop reading after 8000-file for internal and 16000-file for external, no matter whatever mem size.
Yes, I already test it with 18.000 mp3s on 128GB in both int/ext slots exact above limits.
You won't even see the after files in the browser, simply the database of above limited files is stored in the PD2 RAM, put the PD2 in sleep mode to prevent database re-update when power went off."

So I could replace the internal card with 128gb and fill it with 8000 flac files and they would all be recognised and play then.
Is that correct?

YES, FLAC,DSD,WAV,MP3 and mixed together to whatever audioformats pd2 can play, the first 8000 files are scanned stored in the database and thus all first 8000 are recognised and thus playable. And the external microSD the first 16000 files are playable.
Also there is folders limit 4000 int. and 8000 folders ext, means when scanning files stops at 4000 folders/maps even the 8000 files limit isn't reach yet. From the manual:
- The maximum number of files and folders that can be recognized
by the product.
* Built-in : 8,000 files + 4,000 folders
external microSD : 16,000 files + 8,000 folders

Seems very misleading of Cowon to say that the max size card is 128gb then doesn't it? Really they should be honest and just quote the number of files allowed on each of the two storage areas.

Oh thought because music shows up it would be ok. Got about 50GB free so just over 128 loaded, will add some more later to see.
Most of it is Flac so maybe that's the reason it can be read?
