Hello Head-Fi citizens. I'm pleased you decided to visit the newsgroup. My handle is ScubaMan and my ad hoc Faraday Cage, Numbers Station, Zombie-Outpost, off-grid home is situated here on the North Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada. The peninsula is sandwiched between Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.

I love headphones. And headphone amplifiers. I'm a gentleman forester-farmer who enjoys dangerously puttering about my 10Ha of rocks and trees.

Find a thread that interests you and camp out. There's a wide assortment of characters on the site.

Last bit = a message to my fellow Canadian citizens. APRIL 28, 2025. Vote.

Thanks for having me.
I'm Daniel from the Netherlands.
I have recently started my search again for a better music listening experience.
I went from Sony XM3's that i bought during covid to the Raptgo Hook X HBB IEMS as my first Higher tier audio experience. After that i wondered what a good pair of HP's could sound like so i purchased the HD600's (can't go wrong with those really). Recently i've jumped on the Fiio Hype and got the FT1 and FT1 Pro, loving those so far especially with the new VP pads on the FT1 and Cooling ones for the FT1 Pro i got today (these were tips from users on this site and the reason for me to make an account here to say thx). AMP/DAC wise i have a DX1 now but might upgrade that to a Fiio K11 (R2R) I've also preordered a DAP from Fiio the M21. Also have some other IEMS. the Simgot EA500 the QKZ HBB and Salnotes Zero. And oh yeah im expanding my Flac library and switched from Spotify to Tidal. I also have the Koss PP's and KSC75's! And my wife is using the Sportapro XD

That's it for now.

Enjoy the music!

Koss SportaPro's my wife uses these when out for a jog. To be fair Koss has decent sound, Hifi on a budget :P These are great because they have a "neckband". I'm noticing she picks them up more and more also when doing stuff in and around the house etc. Comming from 5 euro wireless buds from stores like Action i can see why ;)

Yeah. It's always fun to hear people say "I don't think I can even hear the difference" and even they try of course they can... Everyone can^^

you can say that, lol.

My latest investment are the HD800. I so much love this headphones... :)
I did a wallpaper with them today for the (new) Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation-Thread, but I'm not able to post pictures :/
Wonder how long it'll take. I want to post all my gear!
The HD800s are an amazing choice! Definitely one of the most iconic headphones out there for detail and soundstage. It’s cool that you made a wallpaper for the appreciation thread! Hopefully, you'll be able to post pictures soon.

Hi all, looking for advice, primarily on DAC/amps

I am new to shopping for gear, but trying to achieve affordable endgame. I tried Hifiman Edition XS and was happy with them, then on advice of family wanting closed-back, I went all-in on Dan Clark Audio Noire X and am satisfied by the improved imaging? detail? and consistently finding new layers in the recordings than I had before.

I am somewhat tempted to get an open-back like the Sennheiser HD660S2 that's on sale on Amazon or an Arya Stealth, but I'm pretty comfortable with the Noire X seeming like it's higher detail and separation than anything in its price range.

The major thing I'm conflicted about is my choice of DAC/amp. I got a new Ifi Zen v3 for $190. I'm curious enough to order a Hifiman EF400 and see if it seems any different than the Zen, even though if I keep it, I would still use the Zen for walking around the house, and not needing a separate power cable. But if I could go back I think I would get a Chord Mojo 2 instead (especially since it's so light and battery-powered, wow). I wish I could try a Mojo 2. I'm curious if anyone here has any input on DAC/amps under $1000 (probably won't spend more than $650) that might pair well with the Noire X.

I am using a 50$ DAC/Amp USB Dongle for 2500$ IEM. Take from that, what you want :D
