Hello Head-Fi Community. Lurker since my late teens i believe, yet I just made an account. Currently trying to work on a graduation project and trying to find a course in repairing cellphones and laptops so budget is very limited right now.

Currently the only stuff to my name is a barely functional pair of Sony MDR-XB200 that were given to me by my big brother after one of his coworkers tripped on its jack, snapping it. I have repaired 4 times and is starting to show some external damage mostly in the headband I can't actually repair (Maybe possible to 3d print a replacement?) And a pair of urbeats2 that were given to me by my cousin which survived in a really bad shape for almost 3 years I believe until it looks like the left got shorted out.

I could ask for a replacement for my urbeats but I imagine this isn't the thread for that.

Hello everyone!

New head-fi'er here who's started developing tastes for the value of good audio (I think it's already too late for my wallet). Been massively into audio for a year or two now, but only recently been craving for good audio, so joining this forum in hopes of scouring the For Sale forum to find some tasty Fostex TR/TH-X00 Purplehearts as my first "high" level headphone after having used the Beyerdynamics DT770's for long enough.

Nice to be welcomed as a member here!

Hello & thank you for letting me join your forum.
I live on the North West coast of England, United Kingdom.
Electronics has been both my hobby and job for more than a few years along with a few more years of specialising in car electronics.
My home audio equipment has changed a few times over the years & my separates from when I was a teenager over 35 years ago are now in use in my workshop/man cave.

I have been a hearing aid user for 15 years or so & have a loss in both ears at the moderate level.
I have been using a set of over ear headphones, with my hearing aids removed, which works fairly well & lets me listen to music/play games, on the pc, at a volume I am happy with.
I have been wanting to get something better and have been looking into possibly a surround set of headphones.
Currently trying to research if I want a proper surround set of headphones or a set with virtual surround or if looking at surround sound headphones is even the right thing to do & if I might be better off just getting a better quality set of headphones.

Hi everyone. I'm Paul and currently live in South Wales UK. I'm a mechanical design engineer by trade and have been getting into DIY speaker design for the last couple of years. I've been hanging out on the diyaudio forum for a while for this but wanted more specialised info on headphones, so I came here!
I've also been into long cross country walks around the mountains and beaches near me and find my old iPod indispensable for these long treks. My iPod is now 13 years old and way past its best. I am aware of how much things have moved on and am now looking to get some educated and informed advice on a replacement player and decent budget earphones. Once I am able to open a thread I will dive in and hopefully some kind people can steer me in the right direction. 😀

Hey, I'm David and I've been visiting the forum since early 2000. I'm originally from western Europe and moved to Seattle last year. My current setup is Chord TT2+HMS with UE 18+ pro IEM and Focal Stellia. Decided to give Hifiman Susvara a shot and my unit should arrive next week. Would love to explore more options with this great community.

I'm getting on a bit, so I don't suppose I'll have that much to contribute. This is mainly because I can't hear a thing beyond 10 kHz. That doesn't mean I can't tell if something sounds better or worse (to me), it just means that I'm very aware of my limited ability to appreciate sonic capability to the same degree as others. Anyway I do have something I wish to ask about, so I'll post that and see how I get on.

I was agonizing over the decision to buy either the HD6xx or Hifiman Sundara. I came across a scientific study that helped me decide.

The hypothesis of the study was that you can't buy happiness. The conclusion of the study was that once basic needs are met, items that you buy that bring you joy will give you a spike of increased happiness for 3-4 weeks but then people are programmed to drop back to equilibrium.

This was eye opening for me. I immediately bought the HD6xx and then exactly 4 weeks later I bought the Sundara as well. I've scientifically secured at least 8 weeks of bliss!

I shared this good news with my wife and was promptly put on a budget. I suppose I had that coming.

So, I decided to join head-fi so that in the future when I have good news to share it can be with like minded people. :)

So this is how one ends up with a wall eventually.

Edit: I can only assume at this point that it isn't even a matter of if we'll all end up with a wall but when.

First time poster, currently I've got a small setup of a Modi Multibit with a Bottlehead Crack+Speedball and HD6XX. Looking for little ways to upgrade my current setup :) I'm enjoying everything so far and putting together the Bottlehead was quite fun and a decent learning experience about how a tube amp works.
