Hello, new to this site and very new to headphones. It's been a decade since I was heavily involved in very high end car audio exclusively from a sound quality perspective. Before anyone starts getting down on the car audio thing it's important to know some of the cars I've heard in my time rival and in some cases exceeded very high end listening rooms I've been in. Of course, like every field of audio, there tends to be a generally proportional outpouring of money to attain various levels of sound quality and acoustic sensory experience. I know this to be the case with headphones. Just starting out. Using a pair of HD598 and my computer and phone. I baught a dragonfly red but never took it out of the box. To many reviews Steered me away from it. For the interim I'm looking to buy another dongle DAC. Not ready for a desktop set up yet. But might want a nice pair of closed backs to offset the negatives that come with open back. Although in my lingered experience it's seems like open backs will always win out in SQ sorry for such a long post I'm glad to be back into audio

Holy crapHello all. New to the site and new to audio. I tend to do things a little overboard when I jump into something. Bought a Violectric V200/V800 stack, Schiit Jotunheim2/Bifrost2 stack, and a wa7 along with a pair of Audeze LCD-2C, Focal Clear MG Pros and Abyss Diana TC.
Not everything has come in yet so I’m not sure what I do or don’t like, but I feel I have a decent understanding of what I want from my limited listening. Already looking at pieces to move on from and what to buy next.
Want to get a streamer as I’m more into the streaming than I may be gathering a bunch of vinyl or CDs again. I do have access to 20k+ vinyl and a couple thousand CDs if I want to dig them out of storage…just seems like I need to get my feet under me before I get too crazy.

Hey there! My name is Sergio from Spain. Really love music and of course, everything related to HiFi devices. A pleasure to be part of this community.
new comer needs to paste 1st thread here?
Well hello guys, hope you are doing well. New around this parts, but not new to the audio world. Just wanted to say hi

Hi all. I'm new to the forum and a couple of years into a serious hifi obsession. I've been a performing musician most of my life and it may seem surprising, but most of us are not that interested in hifi. I wasn't. I guess I preferred to spend money on my own sound. Then COVID speeded up a decision to retire from live music (at least temporarily) and I started experimenting with high res audio files, then high res streaming, then ripping all my CDs...I'm here to learn more.

Hello from the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland…
Although I’ve been an audio aficionado since the late ‘60’s, I find I’m not keeping up. I’m here for a better understanding of iPhone output and how to make it better. I look forward to asking questions regarding my new purchase, a Cayin RU6 DAC/Amp…
TIA

Hey there I’m the FNG but I’ll try not to ask a lot of annoying questions.
I’m just delving into the world of hi-fi headphones…I’m done with crappy iPhone earbuds. I want to finally enjoy the music I love so much.
Anyway, I look forward to learning more as I explore this rabbit hole!!

Hello fellow audiophiles. My name is Lucy and I've been into audio equipment for years, but I took an 8 year hiatus and only recently got back into the hobby.
I own 5 headphones right now, an a pair of airpod pros
Senn HD650, Grado RS1i, AT ATH M50, Shure SRH940, and a pair of Senn HD 25 1 IIs.
My Grado RS1i's are my favourite followed by Senn HD 650 and my M50s. My other headphones don't get much use.
I just have an old Fiio E7/E9 amp/dac combo that I use, nothing too fancy.
All of this is set up with my 16 inch 2019 macbook pro.
My other hobbies include anime, Virtual reality, computers, and photography.

Hi
My name is Rob
Started my headphone journey about 12 months ago when I began to realise that the more convenient my music had become (Sonos, youtube, spotify, airpods), the less I was actually listening for pure enjoyment or getting immersed in albums as I used to.
Actually the real moment of realisation came when I returned to my parents’ home and loaded up an old CD (Kula Shaker “K”) on the 90s TOTL whole-house system (quad, sonus faber etc.) installed by the previous owner (Carl Wayne - lead singer of a band called The Move in the 60s, subbed in to The Hollies for Allan Clarke in the early 200s, and general TV / Radio / West End personality in the UK). Anyway, for the first time in as long as I can remember, I listened a whole album straight through without distraction (other than a bit of alcohol on the side….). And the disappointment of going back to listen to the same album via iPhone / airpods or Sonos really hit home!
So my journey so far:
- Started with FiiO BTR5 and Senn HD 58X which piqued my interest;
- Swiftly moved on to various desktop / bedside setups spread across the various places I listen - Monolith THX DAC/AMP, Liquid Platinum (Monoprice version), Burson Funk, BlueSound Node 2i, paired with HiFiMan Sundara and Kennerton Gjallarhon.
- Now semi looking at dipping in my toe on some slightly higher end stuff - albeit somewhat reluctantly as my current location (Cayman Islands) and life situation (toddler and newborn) means no real opportunity to test anything before buying (at least in the next 6 months), and 25% import duty added to the price of everything.
Music tastes: most variants of rock for enjoyment, classical or electronic (particularly synthwave and variants) while working / doing life admin. Guilty pleasures are Phil Collins and 90s / 00s Ska Punk (Streetlight Manifesto, Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish etc.).
Other expensive interests competing for time and money with HiFi and family / my children’s eduction: cycling, watches (nothing obscene), wine & port (often obscene), PC gaming
Cheers,
Rob

My name is Huston, the fascination of headphones appealed to me early in my senior high school, the time when I don't want to listen to class, I‘d just hide my headphones in my sleeve and lying on the desk to enjoy some music rather than math lolz.
Anyway, that's roughly 4 or 5 years ago, I had quite some collections since then, i.e. HFM Arya, Grado PS1000, QDC VX, EA Legendx, etc,.
Most of them are alredy history since I sold them, but I kept TH909 and TH900 as I really like their bass.
Btw, I modded my TH909 recently just trying to make it more bassy, although I found the stock tuning acceptable for anime songs, still, I JUST WANT MORE BASS

HI everyone,
Started with basic SENNHEISER headphones as a youth. Then I had a pair of Audio-Technics electret headphones. My next headphones in college were the early Stax Lambda headphones with a basic Stax amp. At the time, I was just in awe of the sound they provided though looking back, the bass was definitely limited. But the clarity and lack of distortion was amazing. I traded it for some speakers (Accoustat Spectra 22) and then my next headphones were Grado SR125 (didn’t like them) and the SENNHEISER 580 (good sound).
Ive been traveling for business a lot and have had a bunch of headphones, the best of which have been the Etymotic Research, Beyerdynamic T51 and now Bose 35ii. I had tried the Bose 25 and they didn’t sound good to me but the 35ii have good balance to my ears.
I decided to back for some high-end headphones. Thought about Focal Clear, Hifiman Ananda/Aria but bought Stax L700s. After all the years….ah, so good still. First I tried the D50 amplifier and it sounded pretty good but had a bad hum. Currently have a KGSShv and it sounds excellent. I use with an RME DAC and some tone shaping with the blu-tac mod and it sounds excellent, much better bass than my original Lambdas. I recently tried the Dan Clark Stealth and though it sounded very good, at the end of the day, it didnt sound quite as good to my ears as the Stax. I thought the bass might be better with the closed back Stealth but, with RME equalization and blu-tac mod, the Stax was quite a bit nicer in the bass range. I also tried the Audeze LCD-2 Rosewood with RME equalization…..but not as good as the Stax.
Now, I’m thinking about going up to a KGSShv Carbon or Blue Hawaii and try some more electrostatic headphones, like the 007 or 009.
In any case, fun to see everyone so interested in headphones. I’m rebuilding my turntable and cartridge….but that’s for another day!
