New Hidizs AP200 double DAC Android-based smart music player

@Hidizs Hk
Had one question. I saw 2 pics of black ap200, just wondering which one has complete black in front panel, is it the aluminum one or the steel one?
More pics of all variants would be great.

The Black Aluminum is the one that's all black. The Stainless Steel one can't be colored. I've also requested more images from Hidizs on the KS page since it's sometimes hard to tell what version I'm looking at in the images (between the SS and Silver Aluminum), and some of them are rendered images. They said a week ago they would put up some better comparison photos in an update, but so far have not.

The Hidizs AP200 stainless steel version has arrived. The build quality is very nice,i really like how sturdy it feels and looks in real life. Photos don't really do justice. When you hold it in the hand, you can feel the quality and realise what a good job Hidizs team has down both design and build wise.
I could not power the player as the battery is empty, i left it on charge and I will come later with impressions about software and out of the box sound impressions. I like the already applied screen and back film protectors. On this version the back is real carbon fibre, with extra options such as wood, or glass on Hidizs website when you order.

Extra screen protectors are provided in the box along with the USB Type C cable for charging/data transfer.
My only complain so far are the plastic clear case included that is very thin, and looks like it will crack any minute and the USB Type C cable that is included, is not good quality. Hopefully new better accessories will be released soon.
Here are some photos of the actual unit.
I will add more impressions later once the battery in charged, and I get familiar with the unit.

Yes i like it too:)
I normally like all black colour music players, but this stainless steel is really nice in real life.

Your pictures may have sealed it for me in getting the SS version. I was leaning toward the black version, but don't like the idea of a glass back. I just didn't know if I would like the look of the SS or not since I wasn't sure which pictures on the KS page were SS, and if it would be too shiny.

Guess I'll probably be getting SS with a wood back.

Is a matter of taste and not a big deal in my opinion.I have never had a stainless steel music player, and the extra storage was important to me.The back panel is not that important in my opinion as i believe Hidizs will release later a leather case for it and the back will be covered:)
Some may even hear a big sound difference between the steel and aluminium, so get the one you can afford, but I always recommend to go for extra storage if possible.

Yep, stainless steel looks good. But if I had to choose - I would stick to stainless steel with rosewood back - makes an inpression of very valuable device even on pics.

BTW, my first look and opinion (if someone missed that HERE)

Yeah, may main thing is not liking the glass back, if there was an option to not have glass on the aluminum player I would likely get that since I also don't like putting my devices in cases. How would the aluminum vs SS make a difference in sound?

Some people on other threads say they hear a big difference between aluminium and copper, so others may hear a sound difference between aluminium and stainless steel.
Just saying. I am yet to hear it as i want it to change it completely before loading my music and start testing it.
But visually, build wise i really like it.

I did a little research on that, it sounds like the difference in sound is caused by internal components possibly being grounded to the case and the different resistances in the metals? The post I saw related to this in another DAP:

The inner circuit should not be affected by the case material, I'd probably consider that an issue since if the case is grounding the circuits, it could short from a static charge...

This being said, I have never heard a dufference between the same DAP with diufferent cases..

Thanks for the confirmation @wiski
Now i have other question regarding sound quality.
@Hidizs Hk Does sound quality change with casing material in hidizs ap200. That is between stainless steel and aluminum one?
I am considering if I need to update it to stainless steel certain or not.

I suppose that is down to you to find out by trying both models side by side if possible. Sadly i haven't heard the aluminium version, as i would have answered your question. But the steel...well sounds great so far.
