New Amp from HeadAmp - GS-X Mini

So the Headamp CS pulled through quickly, and the shipping was equally fast. Received the faceplate kit in 2 days and changed it out today.

The polished red and satin red are quite similar in color, just minor nuances in the finish but the satin red does match the rest of my desk a bit better.

Swapping took me about an hour. Removal of 4 front screws, top plate, set screw for knob, washer and nut for the volume pot, and 4 screws behind the XLR output were all that was needed. Everything was simple except one of the XLR screws is in a tight spot and was a but of a PITA. That accounted for half of the process for me.

Yeah, the 2 closest to the board were a PITA.

Another interesting observation i made was that in high gain, no matter which HP or volume level i was using, the hum/static was always there. Also, its really exaggeration to call it a hum. It sounds more like what you hear when you turn the volume of a speaker /headphone to really high while not playing any music. I ll check the ground loop issues one more time when i go home.
Hi, have you completely eliminated the hum and static from the amp eventually?

Layla is 117dB/mw @ 20ohm, Andromeda is 112.8dB/mw @ 12.8ohm. I'd be extremely surprised if anyone could detect background noise from the GS-X mini with IEM's when the amp is set to any volume level likely to be used with an efficient IEM. If you max the volume on high gain, you will hear a very soft background noise, but of course blow your IEM's if any signal was put through.
Hi
Would you know the reason might be that I’m getting very loud background noise, static noise with sensitive iem from my gsx mini, with no music playing at the background, and I’ve also detached a dac from the amp.

I can confirm that I get a very subtle hiss with my SA6 Ultra and Moondrop S8 IEMs out of the GS-X Mini balanced output when no music is playing. It is so subtle for both it does not bother me at all. I also rarely use IEMs out of my desktop set up but they both sound pretty great out of the Mini's balanced output. There is not much volume range adjustability but that is to be expected on a powerful amp like this.

Also, I highly recommend the DDHifi XLR-to-4.4mm adapter. Much more solid connections than the cheap one bought on Amazon/Ali Express

Are you going to be replacing it with anything?

I'd buy another in a heartbeat for another system in the house but will let someone else get a chance to enjoy this! GLWS!

Nice, everyone seems to getting this amp. I went a different route and got a Cen.Grand 9i-906 "Silver Fox" and love it.

IF I was going to get another amp it would be either a Zahl HM-1 or a Feliks Audio Envy tube amp; actually I want to buy each of these someday. As well as a Holo May KTE dac. Might as well dream big right?

I'm thinking about selling my mini as well to fund a bliss kte as well.
I'm going to stick mini til later in the year, or some time next year when there are used blisses about. Everything winds up in the classifieds eventually :)
Til then, the mini is highly unlikely to be holding many people, if anyone back at all.

More I think about it, I'll probably end up keeping the mini for the home office. The form factor is great for limited desk space. I'll put the bliss with a holo may in a dedicated listening space next year.
