Well, here I am enjoying the sound of Bonnie Raitt on my headphile-modded AKG-K340s, and along come these! It would appear that it might be a while before they are readily available, at least in the USA, but hopefully some of our European friends can take a listen and tell us what we are missing.

There will certainly be some European friends who can't wait to try one of those new cans and post their impressions. I know at least one.

I can't wait to read some impressions. I really love the 501's, particularly for their price, but I always thought they were missing a little something that kept them from being great. Maybe it's the deep bass, I don't know. But I'm excited to hear AKG's two new attempts.

Just got back from Berlin over the long weekend and nobody seem to have them in stock. I tried three different stores, no luck, and my wife was starting to get annoyed. They just don't understand.

Overall, a nice trip. Great food, beer, and I was especially impressed with the MBL speaker display at KaDeWe.

Unfortunately the nearly 140,000 euro price tag is a bit out of my price range.

That would be my guess as well. (Not sure if I would pay again for an K501 varient at those rates, an open K271?, again.)

I doubt that anybody has bought the new AKG K 701 up to now.
Maybe some engineer from AKG owns them already, but these phones were just released for the IFA, they may be still prototypes and not resale stuff.
Do a search for "AKG K 701" or "AKG K701" on an internet search machine and you will find no shop that sells them actually.
So I bet this someone from Germany is just a phantom or a marketing joke.

Read Norbert's meet impressions thread - the 601 and 701 were so new that they didn't even figure out the elastic headband yet apparently.

And BTW just in case you didn't read, the K1000 is no more. Same for the Orpheus.

Not really much need to read it, unfortunately that's about all he said about them.

As far as I know, AKG will not be able to release to the shops the new K601/701 until the end of october.

bye
