Decided to go with the Maverick D1

I just purchased the Fostex T50rp and realized that I'm finally going to be forced into getting an amp.

It would be nice if the Amp/Dac worked well with all of my headphones that I currently own (all headphones are in my sig. but the most important are the ad2000 and t50rp)

I'm looking for a fairly neutral sound that won't provide any noticeable colorations.

I'm assuming low impedance Amps work best, So here are a few I've been considering:
  1. Matrix M stage
  2. Schiit Asgard

As for Dacs:
  1. Maverick D1
  2. Used Audio Gd Fun
  3. Udac
  4. Zero 24 bit
  5. Used Vdac
  6. Musiland Monitor 02 US
  7. Pure Piper dac A1
  8. Firestone Audio Fubar II

Thanks,

The Audio-GD Fun comes to mind. It has got lots and lots of power and drives my HD650 and Yamaha YH-100 orthos very well. The volume pot is at mostly 11 o clock with the YH-100s and maybe 10 o clock with the HD650s (mind you I listen to music at pretty loud volumes).

However the final cost will come to around $260 for the basic version. A recommended option to spend the few $$ to upgrade the pot to an ALPs pot.

BTW I do not have the FUN but the older COMPASS which is what the FUN replaced. The Compass is very similar to the FUN in the amp section and from what i have read the FUN DAC is an improved version over the COMPASS DAC.

The COMPASS is very neutral in both the DAC and AMP sections so IMO the FUN will also be very neutral.

Of your list you should drop the D10 as its not powerful enough.

Might want to check out the Maverick D1 DAC/amp combo.  Its cheap, strong, and easily tweakable.

Standard disclaimer.  I'm not affiliated with Maverick Audio in any way.  I've been using this handle for close to 10 years now.

I don't see nothing wrong with a little bump and grind.

I guess we are in the same ship. I've tried fireeye 1 as the amp and i like the mid section

Still looking an amp and dac which can make the high and mid sound good
