If I read between the lines, this has been nothing more than a charade to justify your purchase of new speakers! Shocking behavior on headfi! :D
@gimmeheadroom thanks to you Sir I know hear similar distortion in all of my cans and speakers not to mention amps. It is high time for some shopping. Thank you, how I haven't I thought about it earlier myself

I have the Mytek Brooklyn DAC/preamp and recently bought the iFi Neo Stream which also has an inbuilt DAC. I'd be curious to hear how the iFi DAC sounds, so how would I configure the two units to override the DAC in the Brooklyn and use the iFi DAC instead?

There is no good way to do that. You will have to plug/unplug and play.

Fron what I can tell, that Mytek features analog RCA inputs. You could go from NEO Stream via RCA to Mytek's RCA inputs and then Mytek would have its DAC bypassed. Unless I'm mising something?

@iFi audio - I also asked the question in the Neo Stream thread and went into more detail there with the obstacles I was coming across - perhaps you could jump on there rather than the conversation jumping between two different threads? - starts at post 599 on page 40 thanks.

Yeah but that ends the apples and apples comparison between DAC sections, which is why I didn't suggest it.

I'm a former Brooklyn Bridge owner. I have a bunch of Mytek dual-1/4" heapdhone cables and adapters that are practically new and have been sittting in a drawer for over year. I finally remembered about them and put them on the classifieds, in case anyone is interested: https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/mytek-cable-galore.41711/

I recently acquired a Brooklyn Bridge which I will pretty much exclusively use as a pre amp to feed my Brooklyn Amp + and speakers. I'm not a great headphone listener but I have a pair of Focal Elegia's with an unbalanced cable which I tried out on the BB the other day and was pretty impressed with the sound. However I thought I might explore a bit further and I wondered if anybody could offer some advice on Balanced cables, which I'm afraid to say I know next to nothing about. Was particularly intrigued to see some pictures of cables which used both of the jacks on the BB, I didn't even know this was a thing lol. I guess what I want to know is should I just be happy with the cable I have, or should I branch out and go balanced using both jacks? If so would I experience a big improvement, and also if somebody would be kind enough to point me in the direction of recommended cable manufacturers in the UK if poss that would be helpful, but would be willing to go overseas if needed. If anybody has any examples of balanced cables they use that would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

For Focal you don't need a balanced connections. They're extremely easy to drive.

If you feel you need to spend money on cables, @jfunk of Custom Cans.uk fame can get you fixed up.
