My headphone collection is nothing, and I mean nothing!

I believe that joelongwood has close to that amount just in portable headphones! He takes up a whole table at a meet.

WertherDVX is alive and well and living in Italy. I was the one who mentioned his collection in the JVC thread. I became aware of his collection when I sold him three pairs of headphones, including the ultra-rare PMB Silvertone SL Jecklin earspeakers. I think he's up to around 140 headphones now. He and I have corresponded a bit since then, and I can assure you he's very knowledgeable about headphone history and just a generally solid guy.

It's true he doesn't post much, though perhaps he will in this thread. And the very fact that he doesn't constantly draw attention to himself should be evidence enough that he's not trying to show off here, he just really does want to build up his collection to where it can be an online museum.

And by the way, I'm sure he's spent less cash than you might think on these headphones, but spent a tremendous amount of time researching and amassing his collection. He and Duggeh are the only head-fiers who have ever scooped me on obscure German ebay auctions. But WertherDVX has also alerted me to some auctions I wouldn't have found without his help. I hope someday I'll get to see his collection.

That's all good to know and quite interesting. Cool that he's planning to share his collection in a meaningful way.

Dear Friends,

I confess it again:
I'm an insane collector and archivist,
not only about Headphones,
but about CDs
and African Masks too.

Anyhow,
I love Music
and the Headphones Listening System
above all.

Surely,
I have a good professional
Speakers System too
for reference,
but to alternate
the R10 to the K1000,
or the L3000 to the HP1000,
every night a different Headphone,
is really outstanding.

To date I own 160 Headphones,
but I list them in my profile
only after I approve
their introduction in the Museum.

I'm not looking for the best Headphones System in the world,
but only for a very good Electrodynamic System.

I don't hate Electrostatic,
but I want to limit myself
to Electrodynamic Headphones.

Honestly, I don't think
a single Orpheus would be better
of the R10, K1000, L3000, HP1000, ... ,
each used on their proper and best reproduced
Musical Genre.

My Audio System is certainly not perfect,
but it isn't my goal.
I'm an IT guy
and I use Uncompressed .WAV files
all played from external hard drives.
I have a big Music Database
and I send them to a Yamaha Digital Mixer
with a 4-band fully parametric EQ.
I don't listen to anything
if it didn't pass through this EQ.
From the Mixer
the signal goes to two RudiStor Amplifiers.
I think the RP010B is one of the best Solid State
Amplifiers in the world.
The RP7B hybrid is very good too.
Now I'm looking for the EAR HP4 all Vacuum Tube
and a Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier for the K1000 and the Ergo AMT.
Again, I repeat,
I'm not looking for the best Headphones System in the world.
This is why I will buy the old EAR HP4,
a very good classic Amplifier,
but no more exceptional.

I must admit I have used only some
of the Headphones in my collection,
but this doesn't prevent myself
to buy two or three cans per week.

I'm not a crytical listener,
but a Headphones manager.
I'm really capable
to find rare Headphones
all around the world,
from Korea to South America.

Anyhow,
I'm not worthy to lace up the boots
of any of the Head-Fi Members
about Headphones Science.

I want to be more precise
about my goal,
the Electrodynamic Headphones Museum.

I'm working on this crazy, ambitious and utopistic project
from several months
and I wish to publish online
a big Database of Electrodynamic Headphones,
from 1930's,
with photos and technical specifications.

I would be able to do it
on Head-Fi,
because I love Head-Fi
and, more,
I'm in debt to Head-Fi.

I'm here ready to do so
with my JVC-Victor AA-DX1000J Headphones Stand
and my two Nikon Digital Cameras.

After all,
I must thank some of my inspiring Muses:
Nik (the most famous Italian Headphones expert),
his kindly brother Fil,
Neil Peart (surely the Headphoneus Supremus as antonomasia),
Overlunge (one of the best expert in the world about ATH-Woodies),
Wualta (for his posts on Orthodynamics),
Kramer (for his mods),
Ayt999,
Insomniac,
Hirsch and
Wayne McManus ("the Masters", for their fantastic collections against each other will be judged).

After it,
I want to remember four awesome Head-Fiers
for their human qualities
and because I consider them really friends:
Gilbert GRod,
Kevin K3oxkjo,
Erik FacelVega,
Francis Fkclo.

At last,
sorry for my poor English,
but I studied Latin and Greek
and I speak Italian, Spanish and French,
but I learned English only from the Net.

Cheers.
