Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

Now, I’m excited to see Moondrop has potential to make EST+Softears MID BA+LCP bass DD tribrids, with Dusk tuning, with Blessing2 or S8 shell. That I can say it will be true endgame 100/100.
after a careful examination session, I concluded we don’t really need pure-beryllium high cost dynamic drivers, as LCP driver of Aria simulates 95% of what pure-beryllium driver does. Not 100% but considering current pure-beryllium driver IEM in production costs $1,700 and $2,000 USD, LCP is a reasonable & justifiable substitution.

Aria already has 2 layers of dumpers, removing 1st iron layer & recabling shall so all good benefits. It’s not too late to decide to swap KXXS’s filter after that👍
Aria now jumps to 84/100, from 70/100(stock), comes to almost close to KB Ear believe 89/100.
I am loth to remove the metal filter entirely as it would be a pain once particles enter the interior of the IEM or clog the acoustic filter. No doubt there would be notable differences if this were done though

Just use this type of tools it’s super easy, 2seconds operation👍

Releasing status?

I guess Moondrop is advancing toward new hot zone $450-550. The EST hot spots with Thieaudio brothers Oracle/Excalibur, DUNU EST112, TRI Starshine, and many other smaller boutique shops. Also KZ seemed is marching toward first affordable EST project too.

I personally found Dusk is one of best tuned IEM around, and really longed for EST and LCP to coup the only weakness of Dusk, “treble response/smoothness/extension & better resonance and transients /textures on bass ~ sub-bass.”. It seems treble concern is gone. So Blessing(shell) EST project may become “B-EST” one to choose for $450-550 EST hot zone! Since B2 is 1999CNY, and seeing other competitors, 2888CNY =449USD & 2999CNY =466USD sounds like a plan(wink* 😉 wink*). I know Chinese love number 888.

For headfiers, here are some interesting datasheet of Sonion’s EST driver, which most likely will be packaged with Blessing-EST, just to share the basic measurements and specs:

Ok well..mmexport1621492156327.png
I got info it was a 10mm LCP DD right now.
BA was another softears proprietary BA.

@MOONDROP you must have heard this😂

What made Blessing2 a default no-brainer recommendation for sub$1000? It’s the mid range driver of B2, and Crinacle’s dedicated tuning for Dusk.

The eastern profile users do not like harman tuned bass floor, the bass instruments simply interferes with vocals, so that’s Crinacle’s magic tuning of lowering 200hz floor down, tone down bass guitar so vocals come to spot on.

Meanwhile, western profile users prefer meaty beefy bass, otherwise American Rock will sound like unplugged acoustic country music.

What’s the weakness of Blessing2 sisters?

Treble/Air and Bass.

Treble lacks extension; it’s Knowles TWFK type of stamped “the good treble”.

Bass lacks texture and responses were slow, just a typical dynamic driver.

Now treble issue will be the thing of past with Sonion EST(if tuned right like Thieaudio did for Monarch/Clairvoyance).

Bass issue is also gone because LCP is “fast and rich” float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. BA like accuracy with organic full bodied thump. Basic physics 101, Energy = mass x velocity. BA has velocity, Dynamic has mass, LCP has both.

If tuned right Blessing EST will be “B-EST” for sure. Flawless I can foresee.

Hope there will be Eastern profile version, like Monarch and Dusk and Western Profile version like Clairvoyance & Pure harman tuned Blessing 2 OG.

Was really hoping to jam out last night using the Kanas Pro and CF01, but the KPs had other plans...

Either I have a clogged filter or one of the drivers is borked. Trying to clean it with peroxide this morning (very carefully) to see if I can't preserve the filters that are already there. Guess we'll see how this goes.

Luckily I can rely on surface tension to keep the peroxide fixed on the nozzle without it creeping up to the driver. Going for 15 minute rounds in between tests. Let's see how this works out!

Much better! Definitely was a clogged filter. Glad I didn't just rip out the nozzle like I was going to.

CF01 can power the Kanas Pro and well. Staging is great, but that upper midrange smear is definitely apparent and will have to be EQ'd out. Honestly, it's just nice to have the KPs back.

Keep your ears clean, folks. This stuff is avoidable...

it's because the stock cloth filter attract moisture,
replace it with a non cloth filter,
be aware though, the stock filter reduce upper mid/lower treble spike, smoother presentation,

I was able to repair this non-destructively and really don't want to go down the road of messing around with filters. I prefer to use these units as intended, with the exception of tip-rolling, which has already been enough of a headache. Wouldn't dream of messing up this tuning.

Turns out a little patience and peroxide will more than do the trick.
