My very brief notes on the PM-1 say "
More refined and slightly ‘larger’ sound than the PM-2 but still not “real to life’. lacking some treble extension and needs “ears adjustment” switching form real life to headphones.
Beautifully built though and lovely cable"
By 'ears adjustment' I mean, I was after a frequency response that was very true to life. I never wanted to put headphones on and immediately think, less treble, exaggerated mids. With the 1060 and the LCD-2, that's what I got.
To a large extent, I also got that with the Elears and the Shure 1540s, but personally I like some bass extension which is where those two fell little short for me. Don't get me wrong, they're really good at what they do, but just roll off at the bottom a bit too soon for me.
Some people are sensitive to treble as well or might want a relaxed listening session, so the PM-2 or PM-1 might be ideal. Certainly comfortable and extremely well made, subjectively.

i own pm1 so are you saying the 1060 is better than pm1

Very informational! Sounds like Marv's 2ply TP trick for Ether C1.1 carries over!

This is rear damping not front damping like the Ether C1.1 TP mod.  This mod with either paper towel or TP means to decrease bass/1kHz bump and raise treble.

One question though. What do you mean by dark can in this case?  Because you've stated adding the vegan pads did "tones down the upper midrange spike some" and you mentioned monoprice "wanted excitement over neutrality"
Most describe a dark sounding can as something recessed or veiled, which usually would be absent of "excitement" or "in your face mids"

Sorry, I mean after what I have done the can is no longer fatiguing nor is it over-bloated in bass, but the treble is a tad bit rolled off for my liking. Stock my can was painful spiked in the upper mids. It sounded like V shaped eq but centered around like 40-80hz and 5-7khz.

Just got my M1060 ,, and for the money , it is a steal ,, very nice headphone ,, specially as daily driver ,
very comfortable with good build quality ,, smooth sound ,, forward with bumped mids  , sound stage is small but good imaging ,, neutral to bright ,, bass is nice ,, details is more than enough ,, i cant hear any distortion or loose of control ,,,

one last thing ... they need power .. A lot ..  to shine and give its best ..

cant wait to see how they perform after burning ..

I think loose connectors and cracking wood will be the least of your concerns...

From use, but you couldn't handle these carefully enough to avoid it. If it's going to happen it will, no matter how much you look after them. No effect on sound or function at the moment.

I'm still in love with these, I just wish my investment stayed like new longer than a couple of hours...
