Thanks for the suggestion, are you using these cables right now?

Checked out the website page where you can configure the cables, there is no Meze Liric option but there's an Empyrean one, is that what you selected?

I am not using these cables, as I am using my Norne Vykari (copper/Silver fusion) with my Liric.

The fitting cable for the Liric is the one used on the 99 classic, Empyrean has different connectors.

@Andykong are there separate Liric cables by now or is the 99 classic upgrade cable also the one for the Liric?

Meze released their premium PCUHD (copper and silver-plated) in mono 3.5 a month or so ago. I already had the mini-xlr copper version for another set of headphones and liked it so picked up the 3.5 mono copper for my Liric which is exactly like the mini-xlr version with a different headphone connection. It's a nice cable and does a decent job of matching the copper accents on the Liric aesthetically.

I've ordered the Liric after all.
I sold my Focal Elegia and got a good offer for the Liric (1550€ open box from a hifi shop) and got 350€ for my Elegia.

Normally I wouldn't spend 2000€ on a headphone but this seemed like a really great opportunity to "upgrade".

I like your last comment: Makes for a probably end game office headphones. This is indeed one of the scenarios that I have discussed with several friends. They start to use the Liric as Work For Home headphones, and they can fully visualize that when they resume full-time office pattern, the Liric will become their indispensable office "accessories".

They leak much less sound than my aeon 2 Noire or my Focal Elegia did..
It all depends on how loud you are listening to stuff

Hi guys,
has anyone upgraded to Meze Liric from BD 1990 Pro? I am owner of the 1990 and I am watching for some time to upgrade either to denon 9200 or to Liric. When I first got the 1990 the immediate disappointment was bass - it was really low without the EQ. Then I learned about how to add low shelf filter and that got the bass a bit better but in a way that it just sounds louder - feeling the more air pressure in ears. What I am kind of still missing is low end rumble or "grinding" or not sure how to correctly say that in audio terms. That is when I started reading about closed back headphones and came to denon and meze options. I also read that denon has more "slam" (which is maybe exactly what I don't like on 1990 or that is something else? hard for me to decipher the audiophile terms since I am all new to that).
I tend to listen to drum and bass (but I am not bass head - don't want head pumping bass I want to hear it nice, rumbling and controlled). I also tend to listen to some jazz/funk tunes which are very nice on 1990.

Did anyone had a chance to compere these, or have any advice?

I think the "problem" with your EQed Beyer 1990 is they deliver more mid-bass rather than sub bass effect. Liric wil ldeliver better detail, moer fluid trnasient and sub bass performance comapaared to 1990. However, I think you also need to check ZMF Verite Closed based on your description.
