Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread

I got my 99 classics on Friday. Initial thoughts , meh what’s all the fuss about. I persevered for an hour or so, couldn’t enjoy them, they sounded veiled, boomy not an easy listen. I decided to burn them in, this evening I plugged them into my ibasso DX200 and wow ! They sound amazing, I used to be sceptical about burning headphones in, but it’s transformed them. I’ve been listening to some of my favourite albums this evening, jazz in particular is so enjoyable with these. Listening to a 24/96 “Art Pepper meets the rhythm section” as I type this, it’s incredible !
I was seriously thinking of sending them back on Friday, now I’ve just ordered the 2.5 balanced cable.

So don’t keep us in suspense !

Well this is just my first thoughts, it definitely tightens up the sound, there is less mid bass bloat and there is a bit better clarity. Notes are a little crisper, so overall it fixed most of what I didn't like in the 99 Classics (slight mid bass bloat).

Sounds exactly what I’m looking for, I ordered one last night, hope it doesn’t take to long to get here.

glad you are enjoying it!! Sometimes it even takes our brain time to adjust to the sound. I know this can happen to me.

We had a customer in the other day looking for a gift for her father. He was an all around audiophile and enjoyed turn tables to digital. With her budget and other info about him, my first thought was the "Meze Neo". I let her plug the Neo into my phone to listen on the fly. She was amazed. I'm suspecting she might be stealing it from her dad lol.

Its a really easy headphone for a ton of people to enjoy. This is one of the reasons why I like it so much

Hello everybody,
One of the headphones in the set is detached and loose now. There's a threaded connection which has seems to be intact but I can't thread it back. Has anybody tried to disassembe the headphones ? How shall I attach this headphone back? Please help.

Take off the pad, unscrew and remove the plate, and screw the cup back on the mount. It's an easy fix. If the screw won't stay secure in the hole, something is obviously faulty and I would e-mail Meze, though chances are they will see your failed attempt and make things right. Regardless, no worries!
