At end of day, you can see what the Shcitt is all about and sell the O2 and buy it? Simples!

Yeah, but I dont have the O2/ODAC at the moment. Its in the house but its for Christmas. I dont like selling presents also.

Thanks for the heads up, Dan! They look like some competition for the O2 + ODAC.

A quick comparison table (red is better):

Magni

Freq Resp, 20-20K, +- db

Weight, oz

Portable

So, it's power/price (Magni) versus portability (O2)?  The rest of the tech specs are such that human ears will be hard pressed to tell the difference.

Don't forget aesthetics! The O2 is a ugly lil bugger.

Yes, but the O2 has so many options with the front panels that are available.  I had an O2 with a bamboo front panel that was slightly burnished.  It was a classic.  However, with the $99 piece from Schiit, you get their same styling of case with the "U" shaped top, front and bottom panel all combined into on.  5 stars on their appearance.

The o2 is nearly 50% more with less power. It's an easy choice for me.

There are some options for the O2, but they're all ugly. Utilitarian looking. But it does a pretty good job regardless of looks. Competition is always good.

Sure, the ODAC measures better, but assuming Schiit didn't screw up on the jitter, good luck telling these two DACs apart with human (or dog) ears.  For SNR, distortion and crosstalk, the amp will be the weakest link anyway.

I have an odac that developed jitter just a few months ago. Had to go out and drop some cash on the bifrost. Now, no jitter. I'll take my chances with Schitt.

Anybody use EQ on their MDs? Dan provided measurements for my personal pair after he checked them out for me (a kind gesture, IMO!), and I've been EQing them a bit based on that. Bumped up the small dip in the 40-80Hz range, and decreased the 10KHz area just a tad (seems to be a problem area on most T50RPs). The changes are fairly subtle, but enough to make a difference. :)

I followed the headphone eq'ing thread found elsewhere around here. I ended up adjusting about 4db down at 13.1k and about 3db down at 7.4k. I didn't notice any significant dip at 40-80, but dips are harder to hear than peaks. And then I just personally like the sound of the MD's a little better if I drop the 250-500 range a bit. This adjustment is based on subjective hearing tests rather than any objective headphone flatness measurement; sweeping a sine wave across the spectrum and noting where there's apparent changes in volume.
