Lotoo PAW 5000: Impressions Thread
Dec 21, 2015 at 9:43 AM Post #436 of 889
Quick questions for owners as I am about to spring for a used one:
1. Will it use Exfat SD cards that are not formatted by the player itself?
2. One head-fi.org review said that unless the tracks in your album have a track number preceding the track name, the player will just list all tracks alphabetically?
3. The 2.5mm balanced is exactly the same as the AK 2.5mm balanced so I can use the same cables?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all. How does this player compare to the Fiio X5 2nd gen?

The FiiO X5 II has double the storage capacity, decent screen and sounds damn fine, but something about the PAW 5000 is more vibrant in its delivery... and certainly more portable overall.  PAW 5000's parametric EQ settings, matching its more expensive brethren, really places it into another league.

Hi All, will it take a 512gb sdxc card properly?
does the file browser list all the files in the current folder or just the ones it recognizes?

It takes micro-SD cards. They top out at the 200 GB Sandisk.

Is the balanced out the same as the current model AK's?

I'm seeing some reviews stating the PAW 5000 plays 24/192, but all the info from Lotoo seems clear it's only 24/96.  I have a random scattering of files in 192, and am wondering if the files will play or not?  Anyone try it out?

Any thoughts from owners if they're still enjoying theirs would be welcome too!

I use the optical out to the Mojo and the colour of the lights indicate it's 24/96 even though it's a 24/192 recording and the cable is capable of a 24/192 transfer. The same file played via USB OTG out of my phone plays at 24/192 on the Mojo.

Although I'm not sure if the limit is restricted to its optical out alone.

That's awesome, thank you! I have a Mojo as well, was worried it wouldn't play the files at all. Assuming the output accepts digital coax, I might give that a try.

Kinda wish they had a model between the 5000 and the Gold too. The price gap is huge.
