I'm looking for a pair of IEMs (I haven't actually ever used them, but I have an intense hatred for earbuds, because  I always have problems with them falling out or just being generally uncomfortable.
 
As the title said, I'm looking for budget ones, somewhere around the ~$40, preferably less.
I know that for that price I can't expect the world so I'm basically looking for some generally well sounding IEMs.
 
The type of music I usually listen to when I go to the gym would be Dubstep, electronic, trance and sometimes some rock (basically a lot of types of rock, punk, hard, soft, older rock)

And something else, I guess they should be somewhat water resistant, since I sweat like a pig when I'm at the gym....
 
I'll be using my iPod Nano for listening (6th gen) and I don't have an amp/dac YET (I'll be getting one in the future, for my new Beyers )
 
Stuff I usually do is cycling/stepping/rowing cause I'm fat and I want to loose weight. And just the general weightlifting exercises.

I use the Monoprice 8320. Isolates well enough to block out most gym noise and has a clear, balanced sound. Wearing them over-the-ear eliminates microphonics. $7.

Thanks for bringing those up. I've seen them being recommended everywhere, but the thing is, I'm from the Netherlands, the only place I can buy them is from their site, which with shipping and stuff will bring the price up to ~$40, which I think is rather high, for a pair that other people can get for $7. (when you're from the USA, that is)

Meelec s6 was on sale via groupon for $29 few weeks ago, but now expired. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on sale somewhere in the near future.
Or you can just get the m6.

However, I didn't find m6 to be bassy enough for dubstep personally. I prefer Fischer Eterna (out of your price range).

I'll keep an eye out for them... I just spotted the JVC HA-FXC80E for 25 pounds, are they any good for the gym?

I'm most likely going for the S6, because of the added accessories, they're a bit higher than what I wanted to spend, but yea... They're sweat resistant and everything, and I suppose they'd sound good as well.

I don't necessarily think you need to get "sport" headphones to get a fit that won't fall out. If you use the comply foam tips with a pair of headphones they wont fall out. But you do want somewhat waterproof... not sure theres much in your price point

Typically the in ear ones work well. The cabling design is different, some go directly downwards, other loop over the ear for a better fit.
So just get anything that's half decent. I doubt you'll be doing active listening anyways. Maybe something with more bass for maintaining the exercising rhythm.

I use the meelectronic m9 over the m6 for the gym. I like the m6, they just take constant readjusting while at the gym and it's not worth it to me to constantly fiddle with them. The m9 are also cheaper, much easier to take out/keep in etc. Been running with them and using at the gym for at least a year and they're still going strong. At 9$ (Sale) couldn't be beat.

I'm under the impression that the metal grille filters on both are better than paper or fibre ones, because they don't soak up the sweat and then become impervious to sound when wet (had that happen to me with the RE0). Plus I use the supplied Comply foam ear tips because silicone ones often sit differently in each of my ear canals, and that bugs me. Perhaps they also help keep sweat out of the ear canals. I'll know as the weather gets warmer here. 
 
You can get the Brainwavz M4 (with mic) from MP4Nation now at $39.50 with free Fedex shipping to the Netherlands. I have those too (without the mic), but I choose to use the M5 at the gym because it's got more of a bass thump.
 
Also consider getting the Vsonic GR02 Bass Edition. They're $37 from lendmeurears, shipping included. A friend's bringing a pair over from Singapore for me. (No foam tips in there though, a far as I can tell).
 
Agree with SweetLou about the Meelectronics M6. They're too fiddly. I can't get a good seal and they don't look or sound that good.

The JVC FX 40 are the ones I have been using for the gym. 20 bucks here. Look them up on here. They have quite a fanbase for their overperformance for the price.

Also the CX200 I was using before those. They are so lightweight i tuck them in my shirt and forget they are on. Fit nice and snug. They are a bass-lovers phone but I've had a bunch of people in my office buy these after hearing my pair. Most ditching their horrible fitting and sounding bose in ear model while a couple just had stock buds. I personally like the FX40 better now but the Senny's are a good buy as they also only cost me 20 bucks here in the states.

Too bad on the monoprice. Got mine for $5.22

This is what I use at the gym. The isolation isn't perfect, but good enough to keep most ambient gym noise out. For the price the sound quality is pretty good. I've used the meelec M6 in the past, but as above, I've had to fiddle with it while working out to get the best sound quality out of it.

I think user "some1" still has some, he delivers to Europe and has sold a bunch to fellow Head-Fi'ers check him out. Amazon has them for 8-9 usd I think.
