In my case, with my old ears, a "set-it-and-leave-it" approach with digital EQ doesn't work. I use my Schiit Loki+ to adjust the tone for each headphone, each album, and sometimes each track to suit my taste:
for the metalheads, I recommend giving this album a listen. With @Muul EQ (and my slight changes), it really brings forward the bass lines. They sound so textured and detailed and highlights what makes the LCD-X such an amazing headphone.
I really like my LCD-X 2021. IDK. I can just absolutely crank it and it slaps pretty hard. Driving them with a Mjolnir 3 that I very much like. In the push/pull mode the bass definitely hits harder and overall the headphone has more dynamics. The "ear gain" region absolutely wrecks me so these work perfect for my ears. I even have the "ear gain" tuned out of my car audio set up. Anything around 3k makes me cringe.
