I did that too, exactly what's done in that video.

Very easy to do.

Bro- we are all friends here. Or want to be. We are all pilgrims on this road, sharing what we are learning on the way. It’s ok to troubleshoot and discuss here, so long as we all stay charitable to each other. You are welcomed here. That’s what this Forum is about- from wherever you are- so each of us can ‘enjoy the music’.

Personally, I’m waiting for either headphones.com to get the X back in stock or for a really good deal to come along for a used set. I get that some think the LCD-3 is better, but new it’s quite a bit more $$$ as well. Which to go for depends on what we each are looking for. I wish it was possible to audition both, but I live a long way from any audio shop where this is possible- headphones.com gives you 365 days to return a full price purchase, so for people like me though this costs more, it makes the purchase something of an audition. Mind you I haven’t yet actually tried to return anything there. There is also a 10% fee to do so, so one doesn’t want to order lightly- as that 10% is a hefty fee for an audition of a ~$2000 HP
You can buy my set they're on US Audio Mart

Actually, after I replied to @Andii ‘s post earlier the Xs went on sale for a great Open Box price at headphones.com, and I went for it. So I’m set. Good luck though!

If anyone is still looking for an EQ to try on their LCD-X 2021, give mine a try.

Pre-Amp = -6

25Hz = +1.5 Q 2
Low Shelf 55Hz = +3 Q 1.4
Low Shelf 120Hz = +1 Q 1.4
450Hz = +1 Q 3.5
700Hz = -1 Q 3.5
1.1kHz = +1 Q 3.5
1.95kHz = +1 Q 3.5
3.6kHz = +2.5 Q 4
4.1kHz = +1 Q 3
5.6kHz = -2 Q 3
7.3kHz = +1 Q 4.5
8.2kHz = +1.5 Q 4
12.2kHz = -3 Q 3

Bass is tight with great extension, imaging is excellent, soundstaging has correct depth and width, and everything sounds nice and balanced. I think you will be very impressed.

Initial impression - LCD-X 2021 out of the box. Listening via Zen Dac V2 ->RCA to a Douk Audio P2 tube pre-amp —> RCA out to Zen Can 2021 (just the normal one not signature anything) source is TIDAL via MacBook Pro USB into Zen Dac. EQ is the bass boost and 3D settings on the Zen Can plus by hand dial adjustments on the P2 (bass at 2 pm, mid at 2 pm, treble at 12 pm).

Bass quantity is fantastic- the ‘bass heads dream’ incredible slam with great detail and no bloat. Attack is great but decay is of course impacted by the tube sound. MIDS ARE SMOOTH, detailed, forward, not a bit harsh. Treble is detailed, well extended, really perfect. I will probably leave the 6k Hz peak alone it’s fine. Imaging is clear and well separated. I’d describe stage as ‘helmet-like’ - the sounds are coming from all directions with incredible detail, but none are very deep or wide in the image. But the combination of all of it is magical. Like others I don’t find the weight problematical. I may play with EQ in Roon a bit tonight and do some A/B stuff with the Aryas and drop a bit more impression. Definitely recommend the tube pre- amp though.

Tried this tonight. I do like it, I think it’s pretty much as billed. The pre-amp value is critical though. Otherwise bass is clipping on the lowest sub-bass register (listening single- ended on Roon via Sonore MicroRendu —> IFi micro iDSD without bass boost).

I like what your EQ does for the soundstage. Somehow things seem a little more 3D to me. Kudos and thanks for sharing!

Agree- for me with most HPs (I’m looking at you HIFIMAN) the ‘center image’ is either straight off the top of my head 90 degrees off where is should be (depth =0) or 180 degrees off, behind my head. The Xs with this EQ set have it where it belongs - in front of and between my eyes.

But can someone explain how any EQ could have this effect?- it seems changing the FR (which is what I understand EQ to be doing) should not effect staging or imaging.

Over the last few months, I ended up creating and testing multiple EQs for this headphone. In the end, the one I posted above, at least to my ears, is the one which sounds the most correct. With this EQ, nothing sticks out anywhere, and no area in the frequency response is lacking. It is very neutral sounding, but it also keeps the bass extension properly intact. I have seen EQs online which push various areas of the sub and mid bass regions on the LCD-X to +6 and beyond. It is just too bloated in the low end at this point for my taste, and just does not sound natural to me. I will say though that I want to give a big thanks to Audeze for producing this excellent headphone. I had previously owned a Beyerdynamic DT1990. I ended up selling about 6 months ago. I ended up hunting around for a couple of months in hopes of finding a legitimate upgrade. The LCD-X 2021 has succeeded in making this a reality. I highly recommend this headphone. Once an appropriate EQ is put on this puppy, it will truly blow your doors off. The way this headphone images and renders instruments is second to none at its price point.

After some EQ tinkering I arrived at Amirm‘s EQ, I like it.

For the RME users I would like to add, I like it also with „Crossfeed“ level 1 (a bit)
in combination with „width“ 0.95.
