LCD-X and XC Update
Aug 26, 2021 at 4:48 PM Post #961 of 2,740
Hi all, considering the LCD-XC 2021 and Aeon 2 Noire and not sure whether the Audeze is worth £400 more than the Aeon (£1259 vs £849). The comfort of the Aeon seems very appealing but many reviews say it lacks dynamics
...not as much macrodynamic heft as XC IMO..microdynamics...= bags of it.
I keep both for different purposes.

I own lcdx and aeon 2cb with noire pads. I wouldn't sell aeons to upgrade to lcdxc.

For all interest in the difference between the old XC and the new 2021s my review is online. :beerchug:

Great review! Mostly similar to my experience of LCD-X 2021 in terms of the new revised drivers technical performance, the transient response is definitely improved, way faster and low frequency doesn't thicken up things :D

Did you try swapping your Bubinga Cup to your 2021 version driver to see if it make another deifference? Aesthetic definitely make a difference XD

Sorry no experience with the Aeon 2 Noire, maybe someone else can help.

In the meantime, I wanted to share these:

Decided to go with the XC. How are they without EQ? I'm not much of an EQ guy

The XC have the advantage of very low distortion, even at higher volumes, which makes them ideally suited for EQ. The only thing you will need to consider is how clean your amp is at higher levels of power output. Every 3 decibels of EQ will need twice the power driving the headphones. Past modest adjustments, this increased need for power may present a problem if your amp is already near its limit. However, if your amp is up to it, you can dial these in with EQ to suit your taste without losing quality. In particular, a fat bass shelf will make these headphones really thump.

Did anyone ever measure the newest version of the ldc-2f like they did with the lcd-x?

I own the lcd-2f and its perfect for my needs and was curious as to what the graph looks like compared to the older version of the headphone.

How much power does the XC 2021 need compared to the Ananda? More or less?
Very similar in actual power needs. Though I EQ the LCD-XC a little more (6+ db bass shelf) so in my setup it is a little hungrier than the Ananda. They both run really well with my JDS Labs Element II. So nothing real crazy required.

Is LCD XC out of stock? Why do I have to wait 2 months to ship it to me
The official Audeze store on Amazon shows delivery date for September 5th. When I ordered mine the Amazon store had zero available. I ordered direct from the Audeze website and it took twenty-four days to my door.
