I've just received a pair of Bendix 6080WB (slotted plates) for a pretty penny from eBay... would sound amazing but may wait to test it in an upcoming Felix Euforia.. I think the cleaner 6SN7 tubes might be more my thing...


7236 power tube and 6SJ7GT mesh driver tubes are the cleanest you will get the LF339 sounding - I have multiple pairs of each of course... all for adeadcrab

I recently got a AKG k612 just because it is cheap. According to Crinacle's opinion -- "Basically dead-neutral tuning, emphasis on "dead". Strong all-rounder whose only fault is not having that "wow-factor"."

I tried it on some tubes combination and found it basically lack of bass and warmth which echos Crinacle's judgement. But guess what? The classical yet a bit muddy RCA 6as7g + 5693 turns out to be a great combination.

Still not as good as HD8xx (sticker modded, similar to 800s), but I am very happy with this combo which is versatile for many genres. As it is a "reference headphone" it is not intimidated, also non-fatigue.

They don’t make them anymore. I believe the maker just stopped making them. You will have to catch one on the secondary market if you are lucky. I used to own 2 of them but sold one to a member on here who is very happy with his after modification. I am keeping my other one that I use with my turntable. Good luck!

Better off to try something like the Feliks Euforia - It uses the same power tubes at least. Might be too expensive though.

Especially their new EVO might be quite good, I find the LF339 I have is warm tilted no matter the expensive tubes that I use - the cleanest tubes are still just slightly warm, and everything else is noticeably downward tilted.

Euforia uses 6SN7 driver tubes which are supposed to be more linear than the 6SJ7 of the LF339/LF339i.
I think my next OTL will be the Euforia EVO but I will keep my LF339s around for that warm signature.

I agree. I have moved onto more expensive amps but I cannot seem to part with my La Figaro and use it quite regularly although I don’t tube roll with it much anymore.

Alright, considering the careful selection of tubes and the specific requirement for analytical headphones such as the HD800, I don't believe there is a better option available than what we currently have in the 339. Do you think that it's worthwhile to invest 3-5 times the amount of money on costly amplifiers like the Euforia or Woo Audio amplifiers?
