I don't listen to sportapro/portapro drivers with the original headband. They go on parts express headbands. I also had to burn in the PP drivers for 4 straight days to get them to sound right. You can see my notes over the past few days for my impressions.

I want to believe you; I'm likely to order senn600's next month.

Then again, there are multiple reports that philips 9500 are supposed to be very close to senn600's and those have an artificially boosted treble and don't sound balanced at all.

As a Portapro fan, you'd be better off with the 650's, as long as you've got the gear to drive them properly

The 650 is way out of my budget, plus I don't want something with a darker sound signature.

The price tag on the 600 is about as much as I'd be willing to pay for.

Amped properly, they're not dark at all. They cheapest way to get really good sound from HD650's is with a vintage integrated amp or receiver from the 70's. You could pick up a nice lower wattage piece on Craigslist for well under a hundred bucks. Head over to the vintage thread, there's alot of cool people there to help if you're interested

Thanks for the recommendation, but not interested. I'll almost certainly opt for 600's next month and give a "fair but honest" review, as they might say on amazon. :-)

I picked up an extra pair of portapro's and am very pleased. Very free of grain, relatively even across the sound spectrum. There is quite a bit of bass slam of course. I am really pleased by how smooth and full the sound signature is.

The bass can be a bit...much at times, but it's still fun. They wouldn't be true portapro's without at least a hint of extra bass.

A superior value at $30. These are the best soundtrack headphones I've ever listened to btw. Just really good stuff all around.

Great headphones for sure, try the ktxpro1 if you get a chance. Love the portapros but think the pro1 is a little more neutral.

I got mine recently and let me tell you . This is probably almost end game for me . I am not an audiophille but i do enjoy decent SQ on headphones , and these guys only lack some sub bass extension , otherwise mids / highs soundsatge clarity they have it all.
As a portable headphones they blow every earbud i have tried out of the water including the overpriced apple earbuds . As a stationary headphones they are super fun and enjoyable.
Love these things.
Gonna be my main headphone untill i buy some ath m50x  in the near future.

Demo them before you do! I'd take either my portapro or KTXPRO1 over a m50x, any day, any amp, any source, and that's no lie!

I can always switch back to my ksc75/ur40 and still enjoy music even though i have 'better' cans

If I was lost on an island and had the ksc75 and maybe like one bass heavy can (i dunno like a jvx sz/sony xb/at ws series) i wouldn't be all that devastated.

That says a lot about those $15/ $30 (ur40) cans

Even the djpro 100 at its prices are decent.

Ofc ppl will tell you of all the superior cans, and yeah they can be superior, but the fact is many with some flagships/summit fi still enjoy ksc75 which is mind boggling

Also i need to say the prota pros are awsome for gaming. The combination of great bass response and big soundstage makes playing single player games very enjoyable . Explosions and gunshots sound great.

The portapro's are stunning for both gaming and movie soundtracks. Extremely realistic and fantastic dynamic range. The experience becomes very immersive. The portapro's are utterly under rated. People like the bragging rights of spending hundreds or thousands of dollars; the actual performance of headphones often gets lost in the mix.

I have a KSC75's on a portapro headband and the results are fantastic. The headband tames the highs and brings out the tight, controlled bass.

It's too bad more people can't won't or don't experience this 10/10 combo.

Forgive me, but if anything they are overrated, and I don't say that to bash them. I love KOSS. Proud to have the 75s, 40s, n 100s.

But the 75s have some sort of mystical tag on them, and really , they aren't all that hard to beat. Just very hard to beat at the price point. They do hit like a 100 dollah sound, but cans at 150-200 best them.

I mean price aside obv their sub-bass is non existent. But, other than that, i have 0 complaints on them with like rock music, acoustic + singer. Anyone can nitpick on their shortages till the cows come home, but the 75s have gotten enough attention on here.

Most consumers dont want them because the 75s are ugly, and leak. The porta pros (though i think look cool), most would not want to be seen by another human with them on.

They have gotten waaaaaaaaaaay more attention than any other 10-20$ i dont even know what to call them. On ear headphones/speakers.

KOSS is bawsss
