I remember feeling the 414 pads were just too big for the task
The 414 pads gave a more open airy sound but lacked bass and sounded a bit thin for my tastes. I tend to prefer a thicker sound in general though.
PortaPro Headband Mod with Rockboxed xDuoo X3. Fun combo:
Well, I hope you're having fun, because you turned one of the coolest-looking headphones ever made into... that.![]()
Personally I think they sound better this way and more comfortable.
And luckily the drivers just snap on and off easily. Plus I have multiple pairs of them.![]()

What headband is that, anyway? I'm awful tempted as the Portapro headband has a nasty habit of ripping out your hair (if you have very long hair)
There is a replica on eBay. $5 shipped. There is no reason for parts express to charge that much for shipping. Some BS, in my opinion. Ok, the reason is obvious. More $$ for them, but it's less than $2 send it in a padded envelope.
I liked to it earlier in the thread. I will have to do some work to find it again. stay tuned.
Edit. Here.

The picture doesn't help their cause, but I've ordered several from them and all were the same
Did anyone tried adding a high quality cable?
I am very happy with the modification i did on mine 17x4 mm holes each speaker grill and the sound is very realistic with my Tera Player.
Will a better cable improve the already amazing sound?
